Architecture that’s thick, slow, and implicit.

About us

Since 1992, Marlon Blackwell Architects has designed for its clients award-winning, environmentally responsive projects. Our belief that architecture can happen anywhere, at any scale, at any budget - for anyone - drives us to challenge the conventions and models that often obscure other possibilities. We use an economy of means to deliver a maximum of meaning in places where architecture is often not expected to be found. As an agile, full service design firm, we advocate a participatory, collaborative design process between the client, contractors, and architect, where all voices are heard from conceptualization to the realization of each project. In every instance, we strive to express the richness of the places we work and the ideals of the people and institutions we serve.

  • With a heavy heart, we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, Curtis Moody. Curt was the founder of the country's largest African American owned architecture firm. Not only do we honor his legacy, but we remember what we've shared. We have collaborated on projects, and we have celebrated big wins. Please consider donating to the Legacy House Fund, a philanthropic arm that Curt established to give back to our communities. This affordable housing initiative was a testament to his belief in creating a more equitable and inclusive world. https://lnkd.in/eFVjsEy8

  • One of the highlights of architecture is being involved in a profession that students find fascinating and full of potential. Thanks two two of our staff, Matthew Cadle and Yume Rudzinski for speaking at one of Prairie Grove Junior High's Career Development Classes this week about what it means to me an architect. They've received great feeback about how much the students loved it and are still talking abou how much they learned.
