Seven Types of Rest! Hard work alone doesn't mean lasting success. You also need this: Proper rest. Getting enough sleep isn’t enough. I’ve been there—getting plenty of physical and mental rest but still feeling like crying for “no reason”. I was missing emotional rest. Watch out for these warning signs that you’re missing one of the 7 types of rest: 1/ Mental Rest ↳ When you need it: Your mind feels foggy, and simple tasks feel overwhelming. 2/ Physical Rest ↳ When you need it: You’re physically drained and struggling to keep up. 3/ Sensory Rest ↳ When you need it: Headaches, constant distractions, and bright screens leave you feeling scattered. 4/ Creative Rest ↳ When you need it: You’re out of ideas, stuck in routine, or uninspired. 5/ Spiritual Rest ↳ When you need it: You feel disconnected, hopeless, or spiritually empty. 6/ Emotional Rest ↳ When you need it: Overwhelmed by emotions, you feel like crying unprompted. 7/ Social Rest ↳ When you need it: You feel isolated from uplifting friends and drained by social interactions. Making Memories! In St. Louis, we have a gem of a resource for families caring for loved ones with Dementia. Memory Care Home Solutions is an excellent organization to help these families not just survive, but thrive in their homes. Their mission is to improve dignity and quality of life for people living with dementia and their families by transforming evidence-based interventions into accessible healthcare solutions with the vision that all people living with dementia and their care partners will have access to an exceptional standard of care to live with dignity on their own terms. They have "Room Labs" that provide helpful hints for each room. In the bathroom, the importance of a hand-held shower head is critical to ease of care and safety. At their Open House, we ran into other Senior Service Professionals, all trying to make a positive difference in our community.
