About us

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is the Twin Cities’ own Comprehensive Cancer Center, designated ‘Outstanding’ by the National Cancer Institute. For 30 years, our researchers, educators and care providers have worked to discover the causes, prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer and cancer-related diseases. As one of only 51 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the U.S., we are recognized for dedication to the highest standards of cancer research, patient care, education, and community outreach. We are part of the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium, a network of academic institutions working together on highly translational clinical trials using the expertise of Big Ten universities. Adding to the depth and breath of research are the Masonic Cancer Center's UMN research partners including the Medical School, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, College of Veterinary Medicine, Stem Cell Institute, Center for Immunology, and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The center's clinical research and treatment partners include University of Minnesota Health - Cancer Care, University of Minnesota Medical Center, and University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. Research areas of excellence: -Tobacco research -Cell therapy for hematologic malignancies -Biomarkers to understand the mechanisms of carcinogenesis -Innovative methods to identify and understand cancer genes -Childhood cancer -Immunotherapy -Functional genomics -Cancer prevention and control -Epidemiological research We also lead the Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network (MNCCTN).
