Women dominate most medical diagnoses related to chronic pain: migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, endometriosis, pelvic pain syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome, to name a few. So why can getting a swift diagnosis and an effective treatment plan for these conditions take years? Quite frankly, clinical research and medical practice are based on the male default. Therabody dives into the current state of gender disparity in healthcare, why there’s urgency for change, and a vision for the future of women’s pain management. https://bit.ly/3MqojER #NationalWellnessMonth #WomensWellness

We take wellness seriously at the Conferences for Women. We wanted to understand how our efforts were impacting our community. So in our “Women and the Health & Well-being Gap in the Workplace” survey, we asked: “If you have attended a Conferences for Women event in the past, would you say the sense of community and educational opportunities provided by the Conferences for Women support your well-being?” Of the 3,639 who answered: ‣ 77.91% said attending a Conference positively supported their well-being ‣ 1.95% said it did not ‣ 20.14% said they were not sure This year, we plan to integrate well-being programming at both in-person and virtual Conference offerings in the coming year. We’re also planning to bring back a new and improved Wellness Hub at the in-person Conferences. And a sneak peek of what is to come: we’ll soon launch a free wellness offering for the Conferences for Women community in partnership with a best-in-class provider of performance and well-being support. “Together you are going to make one hell of a symphony.” Isn’t it incredible what happens when women come together? At the 2010 #MassWomen, Gloria Steinem reminded us to learn from other women and to find our voice. We can be unique, yet united. There is #PowerInUnity. On this #WomensEqualityDay, we honor changemakers like Gloria who have fought for a more just and equal world. We’re so honored to have Gloria Steinem addressing the Conferences for Women community once again this year at the 2025 National Conference for Women, which will be held virtually during #WomensHistoryMonth on March 5, 2025. If you’re registered for the 2024 Massachusetts Conference for Women, you are already registered for this year’s national event! With the ratification of the 19th Amendment 104 years ago today, American women were granted the constitutional right to vote. This landmark decision was a step toward honoring the fundamental values of dignity, fairness, freedom, and equality that form the foundation of our nation. While the 19th Amendment marked a turning point in our history, we recognize that it did not extend the right to vote to all women. For many women of color, this victory would not be fully realized until decades later, with the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. On this #WomensEqualityDay, we honor the generations of brave women who fought relentlessly for suffrage and celebrate all who continue the fight for a more equitable future for all women and girls. There is still much work to be done, and together, we can continue to push for progress.

“And I know it will be no surprise to any of you in this hall that achieving far beyond your mother's wildest dreams is what most of us have managed to do.” At the 2005 Massachusetts Conference for Women, former Governor of Texas Ann Richards captured the spirit of progress and empowerment that women have fought for over generations. The late Governor reminded us how far we've come—not just in terms of career and education, but in breaking through barriers our mothers and grandmothers could only dream of. She called upon the Conferences for Women community to look inward and continue to push our boundaries further. Richards also offered a timeless call to embrace ownership of our happiness and reject the notion that external circumstances or others determine our joy. “And I am here to tell you now that no one can make anyone else joyful or happy, but that person and that includes you. If you're sitting around telling yourself that if this happened, or if that happened, or if he just would, or if she hadn't said, whatever it is, I would feel better today, the only one in control of your feelings is you. So get over it. Give it up. And give yourself the comfort of knowing that for the rest of your life, you're gonna be the best company you have.” For 20 years, #MassWomen speakers like Governor Richards have shared stories of chasing dreams, working through challenges, and making change happen. There is #PowerInUnity, and the best way to forge forward is together. The 2024 Massachusetts Conference for Women is now sold out. If you missed out on tickets, we hope to see you at the 2025 National Conference for Women!
