What an honor to have Queen City News highlight the work we are doing throughout Western NC and Eastern TN! Our very own Mary Katherine Harbin gave a great overview of the various projects we have underway and highlighted the resilience of our people who are the real MVPs of this work. https://lnkd.in/eFBf9VnG

A few more images from our first paving job on 421 since the storm. While our quarry team continues to move material at a record pace, our paving crews are working hand in hand with TDOT to add the finishing touches to repaired roadways as soon as we are able. One section, but a major step forward in rebuilding and reopening this major throughway between North Carolina and Tennessee. #Maymead #asphaltpaving #asphalt #HurricaneHelene

We are literally moving mountains. Every person playing a role in this recovery effort is important, but without material, none of this happens. Our dedicated quarry staff has been working tirelessly to drill, blast and haul stone as fast as humanly possible. For the last 20 days, our quarry team has nearly tripled their daily production, all without adding a single member. They understand the significance of what they are doing and are committed to doing whatever it takes to provide the materials needed to rebuild NC and TN. The crews on the ground throughout the state placing materials or paving roadways are vital to the reconstruction, but it all starts right here in the quarry. #maymead #aggregates #hurricaneHelene.

Our next big hurdle on 421: a 90 foot deep failure requiring a massive amount of material to completely rebuild the bank that washed away. Our partners at Baker's Construction Services, Inc. have already made significant progress placing stone but as you can see, we have a long way to go. It may seem like a slow process but the sheer amount of material that has been moved and placed on this small stretch of roadway alone is unprecedented. We continue to make significant strides and are so proud of our people for rising to the mountainous task ahead of us. #Maymead #aggregates #hurricaneHelene

We are officially putting asphalt down on the first major repair of Highway 421 between Boone and Mountain city Tennessee. This is a huge accomplishment and the first major milestone towards getting 421 opened back up. 421 remains closed between trade and Mountain city Tennessee but we are steadily making progress with our partners and rest assured we’re doing everything we can to get it opened back up as quickly as possible. Thanks to Baker's Construction Services, Inc., Summers-Taylor, Inc and a host of other trucking companies who are moving material as fast as we can get it out of the quarry. #Maymead #hurricanehelene

Several sections of 421 between Trade and Mountain City are showing significant progress. We have plans to begin paving the repair on the large washout at the base of 421 coming into Mountain City this week. The sheer volume of road failures in the region make simultaneous repairs more challenging but our crews, in partnership with Baker's Construction Services, Inc. and others are getting the work done as fast as possible. #Maymead #HurricaneHelene #Reconstruction

It takes everyone working together to make necessary repairs in a timely matter possible. This is a perfect illustration of numerous companies coming together to see that a major throughway was repaired and reopened just days after Hurricane Helene #Maymead #Partnerships #hurricanehelene
Less than 24 hrs after the storm, Wright Brothers crews were out in force to repair critical damage that happened in western North Carolina. A great example of this response to can be seen in these pictures of NC 105 in Boone. Project Manager Madeline Haneline, David Bailey, Charles Bailey and Robert Mullins worked tirelessly through the day and night to complete repairs. With the help of Vulcan Materials Company , our crew completed repairs and had the road ready for to be paved by Maymead Inc. In less than four days, our partnership had NC 105 back in service. Thank you to all our trusted business partners! • #HurricaneHelene #cleanup #Boone #WataugaCounty #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors #WesternNorthCarolina #HeavyCivil #infrastructure #transportation

As the reconstruction efforts continue in Western NC and Eastern TN, our Foothills Division has been hard at work on projects that began before Hurricane Helene hit. Here's a peak of Canvasback Rd in Mooresville as our crews performed this work at night to limit disruption to traffic flow. Since the storm we have reallocated personnel and resources to ensure work continues throughout our region and despite the setbacks, are so proud of our team members for continuing to rise to the challenge. #Maymead #asphalt #asphaltpaving #highwayconstruction

Work continues along 421 between Trade and Mountain City. This stretch of road was hit very hard and is a main route connecting the rural communities of Eastern TN with Boone. It remains CLOSED but rest assured we and our partners are working as quickly as possible to get it repaired and opened back up. 📸 Baker's Construction Services, Inc. #Maymead #aggregates #HurricaneHelene #DisasterRelief
