Relief, development and peace in the name of Christ
About us
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) shares God's love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC has workers or financial commitments in more than 60 countries around the world, including the U.S. and Canada. Together, MCC U.S. and MCC Canada administer this work. MCC is concrete and hands-on. MCC addresses basic human needs such as water, food and shelter and works alongside churches and communities in a variety of efforts to build peace. You can take part in the work of MCC, whether by serving in your home country or abroad, by donating time or money or by canning meat, sewing blankets, assembling kits for humanitarian aid, volunteering in thrift shops or for relief sales or participating in advocacy campaigns. MCC is focused on relationships. MCC works through and with local churches and community groups to enable them to better respond to the needs within their own communities. MCC builds bridges to connect people and ideas across cultural, political and economic divides. MCC values peace and justice. MCC addresses injustice and oppression. MCC is committed to nonviolent peacemaking, including loving those who might be considered enemies. MCC is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ and the witness of the global church. We welcome your prayers and encourage you to explore and participate in the world of MCC.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian followers! #MCCPeace #Thanksgiving #GiveThanks #CanadianThanksgiving Photo: Conservation agriculture training, provided through MCC partner Peace and Development Network (PDN), is helping farmers in Rwanda find steadiness amid the uncertainty that climate change brings. PDN established farmer field schools of 30 farmers and provides each school with a communal practice plot for conservation agriculture. These potatoes (known as “Irish potatoes” in Rwanda to distinguish them from sweet potatoes) were grown at a farmer field school plot in Rwanda’s Kayonza District. All participating farmers can take a set amount of potatoes home after harvest. The remaining potatoes are sold at local markets, with proceeds going toward savings group interest and other farmer field school costs, such as the purchase of seeds or more land. MCC/Fairpicture photo/Denyse Kamugwiza Uwera Alt text: A sack filled with potatoes. A hand reaches down to the potato pile. Text on the image reads, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His love endures forever. Psalm 107:1"

Congratulations to Ryan Wright, the 2024 recipient of the Canadian Japanese Mennonite Scholarship. He's a PhD student at the University of Saskatchewan. His research explores how to harness and integrate the holistic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and nutritional psychiatry into mental health treatment approaches in Canada. Specifically, he seeks to develop a framework that encompasses the safest and most effective methods to ease the suffering associated with PTSD and psychiatric illness. The $3000 scholarship is a symbol of cooperation between the Canadian Japanese community and MCC. For more information go to https://lnkd.in/gCmuawBk
