We are adding some hardware to our shelves this week! Honored to be listed as bronze award recipients from the IEDC Excellence in Economic Development awards this year, for cities in the population size 200,000 to 500,000. This year we received awards for our in house Annual Report design, and the Innovation Fund program. These awards joined last year’s silver awards for the 2022 Annual Report, the Innovation Fund, and bronze for our Tech and Trucks events. We have a great team that makes all this activity happen, and we are thankful for the recognition from the International Economic Development Council.

"I just believe that if you have a level of success, and you have the opportunity to make a difference, you are obligated to make the world around you a better place." - David R. Brooks , Founder and CEO of Independent Financial Our Board and some of our staff team had the distinct honor of being given a great tour of their impressive campus right here in McKinney. David was such a gracious host, and his passion for making a difference with the time he has is so evident. Also, he is quite the art collector and he was so generous with his time and stories about his collection. We look forward to their merger with SouthState Bank and that they will still be a vibrant part of our community here in McKinney. Thank you Madison Clark for organizing these tours, and to our Board for being so involved in our community. Last week, some of our Board of Directors had the opportunity for an in-depth tour of The McKinney Cotton Mill - it was so special getting a behind-the-scenes tour of this iconic piece of McKinney history. We admire all the effort that Terry Casey, McCall Casey, Chandler Casey and the whole team at the Cotton Mill have put into restoring this treasure in our community! Thank you to our board members who participated. Kurt Kuehn Scott Woodruff Chantelle Kadala

The past couple of weeks for our team have been a whirlwind of trips, conferences, speaking engagements, and overall full schedules of spreading the word about what's happening in McKinney. From Colorado, to New York, to Dallas, Austin, and of course our own backyard in Collin County, we just had to shoutout our awesome team for the work that's been taking place over the past couple of weeks as we head back into the school year and travel season. Michael Kowski has presented the McKinney Rising slideshow a dozen times or so in the past few weeks alone, and the message of growth and future potential resonates with audiences of all types...from the update with the McKinney Chamber of Commerce to BD Trusted Advisors Success Strategies panel to CREW Dallas, and more. Michael Talley traveled to Austin for the Texas Economic Development Corporation to celebrate all they do in promoting the State of Texas and all of our great communities! It was great to be a part of the celebration and hear from TXEDC President & CEO Aaron Demerson and Adriana Cruz as they welcomed past leadership and Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to talk about why “The Future is Texas”. Then he rushed back to DFW to speak at two different Interface DFW panels with France Media Inc. on Retail and Industrial growth. Madison Clark had a quick trip to New York with Consultant Connect to continue to partner with great site selectors and share the McKinney Magic. Caroline Causey and Mike Wilkes have been networking machines in Dallas, Frisco, and Rockwall with Team Texas, Dallas Startup Week sponsored by Capital One, and the NEXT Conference. The travel is just beginning, and our team works non-stop to continue to make McKinney the greatest city in the universe. Of course, we can't forget about the office team holding down the home front: Deana Smithee, Luke Gajary, and Melanie Molina.
