🌸 Montgomery County Employees Raise Awareness for Breast Cancer 🌸 Let's take a moment to celebrate the breast cancer survivors among our county —your strength and stories inspire us all to continue the fight. We also want to send a heartfelt shoutout to the incredible Montgomery County employees who proudly wore pink throughout October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This show of solidarity highlights the importance of early detection, which can improve survival rates by as much as 99% when breast cancer is detected early in localized stages. Our neighbors at Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) announced earlier this week that they were facing an $8.9 million shortfall in their 2025 budget. It prompted them to release plans for 62 layoffs and the suspension of critical services for some of our most vulnerable citizens. Some relief came today, however, as the Board of County Commissioners and the Human Services Levy Council announced a $5 million allocation to help sustain these vital services for citizens who need them the most. Rising expenses and demand for services, paired with declining revenue and other factors, contributed to this problem. Montgomery County continues to work with the independent Board of DDS as they strive to realign their business operations and sustain their services for persons with developmental disabilities.
