Important Update for Skilled Nursing Facilities! CMS has released updated performance standards for the FY 2026 Skilled Nursing Facility Value-Based Purchasing (SNF VBP) Program, specifically related to the Total Nursing Hours per Resident Day Staffing measure. These updates follow the technical adjustments needed due to changes in the MDS 3.0 data elements, effective October 1, 2023. What You Need to Know: • Performance Standards: The updated benchmarks and achievement thresholds for FY 2026 will now be used in SNF VBP Program scoring and payment calculations. • No Immediate Action Required: These updates do not affect the current FY 2025 SNF VBP Program or any prior fiscal years. SNFs don’t need to take any action at this time. • Measure Calculation: CMS adjusted the case-mix methodology to ensure comparability between the baseline (FY 2022) and performance period (FY 2024) results. #MDSSolutions #CMSUpdates

Important Update for Long-Term Care Providers! CMS has announced a comprehensive training plan for the upcoming launch of the Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES) in Nursing Homes, set for February 2025. This new system will replace the QIES, CASPER, and ASPEN legacy systems, consolidating them into one platform. While iQIES has been in use for MDS submission since April 2023, the transition for State Survey Agencies (SSAs) is on the horizon. Key Highlights: • Training for SSAs: Scheduled for October, November, and December 2024. • Provider Training: A new ePOC training video for the Provider user role is in the works, with access required after February 2025 for applicable state staff. Providers have struggled with these systems in the past, so this is a crucial step in ensuring a smoother transition.
