After a rewarding career as a #teacher, Joel faced serious health challenges that limited his independence. With the support of #MealsOnWheels, he’s found new strength — eating healthy, staying active and living with dignity. Though his family wants him to go into assisted living, Joel values his independence and the comfort of his home; where he’s settled for more than five years with his beloved cat. Joel says #MealsOnWheels is one of the main reasons he can maintain his weight, keep his walking regime and remain healthy enough to live on his own. The McGilvarys' journey is a beautiful reminder of the 'who' behind why we do what we do. "Before Meals on Wheels I was cooking,” Frank says. “I lost a lot of weight. I was about 240 pounds and went down to under 180. Part of it was my blood cancer, and part of it was my terrible cooking.
