Loneliness is a growing challenge, but our Community Connections Friendly Calling is here to combat it. After personal loss, surgery and a sudden drop in income, Autumn was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Autumn, who has been receiving our meals since the 90s, learned about and enrolled in the program. She was connected with Walt, one of our Friendly Calling volunteers who was in touch with her each week. The impact of the service was felt immediately. “Walt motivated me to get stronger, uplifting me spiritually, mentally, and physically,” Autumn shares. Our Community Connections Friendly Calling program is all about Delivering More Than a Meal - we're able to bring a smile and offer additional resources to our clients who are in need. #MealsonWheels #MOWWest

It's always a successful volunteer fair when you come back with zero flyers! Thanks to Volunteer Collective and the City of Santa Monica for hosting yesterday's Volunteer Fair at the 3rd Street Promenade. Tomorrow, September 21st, we recognize #WorldAlzheimersDay. For people living with Alzheimer's or other types of demential, our home-delivered meals, Wellness Checks, and Community Connections friendly calls are life-changing support. Our meals provide nutrition to those who may struggle to shop for food or cook on their own, and our Wellness Checks are important in monitoring our clients' physical and mental health. Together, we are helping our clients living with this challenge continue to live independently from the comfort of their own home.
