📢 We're building a Solidarity Economy that values people over profit! 📢 Excited to share this graphic recording from our Funders Briefing last month! Thank you to everyone who joined to learn about our upcoming Chicago-based film, 34 Days: The Fight for Dyett. This graphic captures the stories shared about our resource mobilization vision and strategy to support production and the Bronzeville community. We heard from amazing BIPOC leaders dedicated to dismantling extractive and exploitative systems, and building a Solidarity Economy that supports us all to thrive. Just as the roots show, a Solidarity Economy is rooted in right relationship, amplifying BIPOC voices and wealth reclamation. Through reparations, reparative practices, creativity, imagination and narrative change we can plant the seeds, nurture the community and bring to life our vision. Be sure to check out the full recording of the funder's briefing to learn more, including additional ways you can support the resourcing of the Bronzeville community's self-determination and our film! linktr.ee/mediasutra #film #community #philanthropy #resourcemobilization #racialjustice #solidaritynotcharity #decolonizingwealth #justtransition #educationalequity

About us
Media Sutra is a socially-regenerative business led by people of color. We are committed to uplifting the stories of historically marginalized communities, creating empowering narratives, catalyzing transformation through art and healing, and mobilizing resources to build a solidarity economy. We are artists, storytellers, facilitators, coaches, healers, resource mobilizers, and strategists. We have raised millions of dollars, launched high-impact organizations and campaigns, created award-winning films, supported organizations and networks to be sustainable, facilitated transformative leadership development, and coached leaders to be game-changers. Our Approach: 💫 BE CREATIVE: Our creativity is the spark that ignites vision and lights the way. Our creative appraoch taps the power of the arts, culture and creative process to fuel social movements. We activate radical imagination, uplift marginalized voices, shift culture and narratives, and co-create film, media, and art in partnership with clients, communities and a network of creatives and cultural workers. 💫 BE STRATEGIC: Strategy is the map that shows us how we will get from vision to action to manifestation. Our strategic approach supports visionary leaders to be better positioned to interpret barriers and intuit breakthrough solutions, moving from ‘analysis paralysis’ to proactive decision-making. Our strategic work largely focuses on mobilizing resources to support our bold visions that align with social justice values. 💫 BE TRANSFORMATIVE: We cannot change the world without sitting in the fire of transformation with the willingness to be changed ourselves. Our transformative approach recognizes that people are the ultimate drivers of change, and therefore must also transform and evolve. Through self reflection, healing and centering the cultures and spirituality of BIPOC, we support leaders to face their fears, anchor in an abundance mindset, and take bold actions.

We had an incredible experience at the 2024 Grantmakers in the Arts Conference in Chicago—the City of Big Shoulders and Bigger Ideas! It was a joy to immerse ourselves in the city’s vibrant neighborhoods and cultural institutions. We connected with our comrades from Color Congress & Creatives Rebuild New York, and met many new friends committed to a thriving arts funding ecosystem. One of the most meaningful moments for us was the work-in-progress screening of our documentary, 34 Days: The Fight for Dyett, followed by a panel discussion featuring community organizers from Bronzeville (@kocommunity) and our filmmakers. The story of twelve hunger strikers who fought to save Dyett High School illuminated the role of arts and storytelling in catalyzing movements for racial justice and equitable education. We also had the opportunity to dive into innovative funding and investing opportunities for artists and cultural workers, learning how these new models can support sustainability and justice in the arts. Chicago’s rich legacy of activism and creativity served as a grounding force as we explored new ways to amplify marginalized voices through storytelling, organize, advocate, and center artists as agents of change. This conference reminded us of the profound connections between culture, creativity, and community power. We’re deeply grateful to Chicago, GIA, and to everyone who helped foster these transformative conversations. #GIAConference #34DaysTheFightForDyett #artivism #CommunityPower #culturalworkers #fightfordyett #CreativesRebuildNY #colorcongress #bipocstorytellers

"The shadow of anti-DEI legislation looms large, not just over colleges and universities, but potentially over public radio and television. In response, we must mobilize with resilience, creativity and commitment to ensure that public media remains a space where every story is told and every community seen."
