🌟 Empowering Parents to Improve Student Mental Health 🌟 According to the Third Annual Merrimack College Teacher's Survey, "helping parents support student mental wellbeing at home" is the area where schools often struggle the most. It's both the LEAST likely form of support to be offered and the LEAST likely to be effectively implemented. When teachers were asked what additional steps schools could take to enhance student mental wellbeing, the top response was clear: empower parents to support their children at home. We're excited to introduce our integrated mobile app designed specifically for families. This tool bridges the gap between school and home, providing parents with the resources they need to nurture their children's mental health. Know a district leader who could benefit from this solution? Forward this post to them, and we'll be happy to make an introduction. Together, let's raise the tide of the whole community in support of students' mental health! 💪📱 #StudentWellbeing #MentalHealthSupport #EducationInnovation #ParentEmpowerment

As district budgets tighten, integrated solutions become essential. If your school or district is currently navigating severe budget cuts, you're not alone. Many are facing the ESSER funding cliff and a tightening of financial resources. Here are some strategies that are helping districts manage these challenging times: 1. Evaluate Priorities: Identify which resources are effective and which aren’t. Find Integrated Partners: Look for teams and companies that help you achieve more with less. 2. Prioritize Grant Research: Explore opportunities to secure funding that can bridge the budget gaps. 3. Sustain Your Efforts: Continue the valuable work you've started. The initiatives you've launched need time to mature and yield results. We're here to support any district facing these unprecedented challenges. At the end of the day, our mission is to help districts and students thrive—we're committed to seeing that mission through. Let's connect and discuss how we can support your efforts. #mentalhealth #schooldistricts #health

School districts today are grappling with three pervasive challenges: 1. Rising incidents of mental health issues among students. 2. Declining rates of student success. 3. High turnover rates among staff. These issues share a common link: the average 11-year delay between the onset of mental health symptoms and the initiation of treatment. Often, mental health struggles in students remain unnoticed for years, leading to disruptive incidents that affect the entire school environment. This burden falls heavily on teachers and support staff, contributing to high turnover rates. At Maro, we believe in proactive solutions. By implementing regular student surveys, we can identify issues early, provide timely support, and equip communities with the resources they need for a unified approach to mental health. If your district is facing these challenges, our team at Maro is ready to help. Reach out to us to discuss how we can make a meaningful impact together.

92% of districts we meet with state they want to get more proactive around mental health but are already too overwhelmed with immediate intervention. The last 10 years has seen a steady and at times steep rise in youth mental health incidents. This gave rise to more resources to meet students where they are at - immediate interventions. But yet the problem persists. Does that mean immediate intervention is the wrong approach? Absolutely not... but what it does tell us is immediate intervention alone will not solve the problem the problem macro. Think of it this way. We know there are preventative measures you can take to prevent or delay heart disease. Exercise, healthy diet, etc. We also know immediate intervention through cardiac medicine can become necessary and is invaluable. Would you solely rely on the latter or would you try to prevent heart disease from ever taking root? Better question would you rather a holistic approach of screening, preventative education (diet and exercise), and then when necessary intervention? I think the answer for most is quite obvious. Maro helps districts across the country get more holistic in their approach while supporting their intervention working - taking the heavy lift off of their credentialed staff. This is the way forward. We are opening our calendar to meet with any teams that are feeling the need to do something different. Please fee free schedule time to meet with us through our website. We are waiting to support your districts YMH initiatives.

"We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too." - JFK We wanted to send a note to all the amazing teachers, administrators, district leaders, and so on we have been blessed to meet over the last few months. It is clear in talking to you all that you choose to show up everyday not because it is easy, but because it is hard. Thank you for all that you do. You are the inspiration that lights our fire every morning. Because of you we too choose to do the hard work of making meaningful change in the youth mental health crisis.

"The United States is the 3rd worst "advanced country" when it comes to child wellness." (Washington Post) We believe the United States is still the most innovative country on the planet. Through innovation we can solve are even most complex problems like child wellness. It's not going to be an easy road, but it is a necessary one.

What are the two things that come to mind when you see these two bullet points? "In 2021, results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey showed that 4 in 10 students felt persistently sad or hopeless and one-third experienced poor mental health, with 22 percent of students seriously considering suicide" The number 2 most common reason a child misses school is tied to anxiety? We have spoken to hundreds of school district leaders over the last 6 months. One underrated issue facing schools is the stress and overwork facing school based counselors. This lead to one of the most important questions we asked ourselves when developing our platform. How can we take a lot of the heavy lifting off of the counselors and provide them with a resource that allows them to make more impact with less redundant work. If your district or school is struggling with this issue - schedule some time to speak with us using the Link in the comments.
