🏞 The post-secondary landscape looked different back in the ‘80s. 🏫 For one, college was much more affordable. Also, that was the beginning of the college-for-all movement, so there was a decreasing emphasis on alternative postsecondary pathways—compared to today where the interest in other options is growing. 💹 So, the Massachusetts Education Financing Authority, which was created by the State Legislature in 1982, has had to adapt over the years to serve the changing needs of students. According to the recently conducted College Savings Indicator (CSI) Study, 47% of parents plan to finance the total cost of education with grants or scholarships. But most students will not receive a full scholarship. In fact, of all undergraduate students, only 0.1% received $25,000 or more in scholarships.
