We were thrilled to sponsor and attend ChurnZero’s #ZEROIN24 Conference once again, reinforcing our role as leaders in Revenue Protection and Revenue Expansion hiring. This event is always a highlight for us, and this year, it delivered powerful insights & inspiring conversations on the evolving landscape of customer success, #leadership, and #AI.
We kicked it off with The Success League for a pre-conference event, which was the best way to arrive in D.C.. The next day, a wonderful breakfast with another partner, Success in Black, created such a great morning.
ZEROIN started with incredible fireside chat with You Mon and William Wagner; "Create a Crisis," emphasizing the importance of urgency, anticipating challenges, and innovation for growth. Then Alyssa Nolte’s session on building genuine customer connections and Rachel Provan’s insights into the psychology behind successful customer interactions. Their expertise reminded us of the impact small gestures, like a "mint at the end of dinner," can create.
Keishla Ceaser-Jones and Stephanie Workman-Bolden challenged us to focus on outcomes & value over just being nice—reinforcing that sustainable growth comes from results, not just intentions.
Day 2 featured incredible keynotes & panel discussions, particularly from women leaders who shared their diverse career paths and strategies for leading with confidence and self-awareness. Polly Speros, Jo-Ann Chiam, and Nikki Briggs emphasized the importance of curiosity, embracing feedback, and knowing when to pivot—all vital lessons for customer success professionals and recruiters alike.
The sessions on AI, especially those led by Bob London, Marley, Adil Dittmer and Roxcee S., pushed us to think critically about how AI is integrated into CS organizations. It's not just about appearing efficient; it’s about ensuring that AI truly enhances effectiveness. Jeremy Wingate, Tyler Jensen Smith, CPA, CISA, MAcc, and Shashidhar Bellamkonda also reinforced this, urging a thoughtful balance between AI efficiency and human touch, with an emphasis on ethics and transparency—principles we strongly value at Melo Associates.

According to the ChurnZero 2024 Customer Success Leadership Study, in the past five years, 40% of CS teams have taken on expansions, and this responsibility is growing. Account management teams now handle 29% of expansions, up from 20% in 2022, while sales teams’ involvement has dropped to 24%.
This shift shows just how vital Customer Success teams have become in managing both relationships and revenue growth. As CS professionals take on more, the need for top talent in these roles is more critical than ever.
