Last week, we had the privilege of speaking at the Webby Talks about chronically online culture, brainrot, and AI alongside Panelists Macy Gilliam, Video Creator at Morning Brew, Brett Dashevsky, Founder at Creator Economy NYC, and Jordana Jarrett, Head of Content, The Webby Awards. "A key takeaway from the discussion at the Webby Talks event was that authenticity must come first for brands. Brands and creators need to gauge when and how to engage with the latest trend-du-jour. It's all about balancing the desire for relevance with offering something of value to your audiences — in a timely manner. Understanding when to act fast (and knowing when to pass on a trend) can make all the difference in resonating with your audience." - TJ Kiely, Director, Global Content & Corporate Programs at Meltwater.

Last week, Meltwater hosted CPRA’s Big Debate on ‘The Role of AI in Media and Communications’ in our Sydney offices.  We were joined by a varied panel of speakers including: Chris Chesher (University of Sydney), Kylie Merritt (ausbiz news), Luna Pan (composer), Dr. Michael G. Kollo (evolved.ai), Dr Mitchell Hobbs (University of Sydney) and our own Ross Candido. It was an exciting debate that brought forth varied and interesting insights including: 💭 AI is fundamentally changing culture, science and business. Giving organisations and consumers alike the ability to streamline data to access information faster than ever before. However, these models can be built with biases, so there is a challenge for us to ensure that AI-generated content is ethically produced and monitored. 💭 The issue of art versus commerce dictates how we utilise AI, we still need to use human touch with AI especially when it comes to training, regulation and policy. 💭 Ethical behaviour should be the cornerstone of how we use AI, particularly given the threat that misinformation presents. It is an exciting time, as when used right, AI is giving way to the creation of new industries and jobs that we haven’t even dreamed of yet. It has the potential to unlock more creativity within our organisations and beyond. Thank you to our guests and team. We look forward to the next event!
