The first IoT reliability platform for debugging, monitoring, and updating connected devices on any hardware.
About us
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers teams to build more robust devices with software at scale. We believe that device reliability engineering will transform how developers build and operate IoT and edge devices with more productivity and more collaboration. As IoT applications continue to grow in complexity, it is more important than ever for developers to have Memfault’s performance monitoring, device debugging, and OTA update capabilities built into their fleet of devices for proactive device operations. We built Memfault to enable developers with a more scalable and sustainable process to accelerate go-to-market, de-risk product launches, cut product costs, and deliver overall superior products. By providing support for RTOS, bare metal, Android, and Linux devices, Memfault gives developers new flexibility and control over connected product development and device operations.

Memfault
Internet of Things (IoT) Software
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers developers to build devices with software at scale by employing device reliability engineering (DRE) techniques. Memfault is a one-stop-shop for performance monitoring, device debugging, & OTA updates. Memfault can be integrated into any embedded device with Embedded Linux, Embedded Android (AOSP), & ARM or ESP32 MCUs irrespective of the RTOS or connectivity path. Using Memfault SDKs, full device coredumps, backtraces, debug registers, logs, & custom metrics are collected with ease. Because data structures collected are framed into packets as small as 9 bytes, they can be transported via Bluetooth, LTE, WiFi, LoRa, Zigbee, or even proprietary protocols with ease. Memfault analyzes data in the cloud to classify the issue, identifies a possible root cause, automatically deduplicates similar issues, & sends alerts when problems are detected. From the web app, you can view individual issues & get an overview of fleet health.

💥 Hot Take: Security Can No Longer Be an Afterthought in IoT Development It’s time to make security a first-class function in the development process. Here’s how you can stay ahead: 1️⃣ Leverage PSA Certified: Arm's PSA Certified initiative is a great starting point. If you’re PSA certified, you’re already on track to meet CRA requirements and qualify for the Cyber Trust Mark. ARM’s ecosystem simplifies a lot of the heavy lifting. 2️⃣ Prioritize OTA Updates: Devices that can’t be updated are security disasters waiting to happen. Start planning your OTA strategy now—whether that’s building in-house, using AWS IoT, or partnering with Memfault. 3️⃣ Adopt Open-Source Software: Secure bootloaders and OS-level security have been figured out by open-source projects like The Zephyr Project. Take advantage of these collective investments to avoid reinventing the wheel. 4️⃣ Utilize SBOM and Scanning Tools: Knowing what’s in your software stack is critical. Implement a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and regular dependency scanning to keep vulnerabilities in check. 5️⃣ Implement Device Observability: Monitoring network traffic and other telemetry lets you detect security breaches early. Build observability into your devices from the beginning—it’s a must for modern IoT systems. 🔒 For more security tips and insights, check out this recent podcast with François Baldassari and Jacob Beningo https://hubs.la/Q02Q0vxw0
