Thank you to the Memorial Hospital Foundation that has given funds to the hospital this year for three pieces of equipment! The first we want to share with you is this Lucas machine! It is able to more efficiently perform chest compressions, therefore freeing up personnel to do other tasks while in an emergency situation. This is a great asset to our Emergency Department and we are so grateful for it! Thank you to our Hospital Foundation Board for all you do to support us!

  • We would like to congratulate Logan Vann, RN in our L&D department for winning the Daisy Award for Q2 2024!! Below is what the patient had to say about her experience with Logan.   “Logan was my nurse the night I went in to be induced. This was my first pregnancy, so I had a lot of questions. She stayed and talked with me extensively to answer all of my questions and concerns. She listened to me diligently when I expressed I didn’t want pitocin unless it was absolutely necessary. She took my birth plan into account and respected it and made sure I was comfortable with every step along the way. She came back to check on me the following nights as well. Her knowledge was obvious and I’m so glad she was able to be my nurse and make me more comfortable. Thank you Logan!” Thank you Logan for being a wonderful nurse to our patients!

  • Memorial Hospital and Manor awarded for efforts to improve rural stroke care The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Silver Award recognizes efforts to address the unique health needs of rural communities Bainbridge, GA, 2024 — People who live in rural communities live an average of three years fewer than urban counterparts and have a 40% higher likelihood of developing heart disease and face a 30% increased risk for stroke mortality — a gap that has grown over the past two decades. Memorial Hospital and Manor is committed to changing that. For efforts to optimize stroke care and eliminate rural health care outcome disparities, Memorial Hospital and Manor has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Silver Award. The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, recognizes the importance of health care services provided to people living in rural areas by rural hospitals that play a vital role in initiation of timely evidence-based care. For that reason, all rural hospitals participating in Get With The Guidelines – Stroke are eligible to receive award recognition based on a unique methodology focused on early acute stroke performance metrics. “We are proud that our team at Memorial Hospital and Manor is being recognized for the important work we do every day to improve the lives of people in Decatur County and surrounding areas who are affected by stroke, giving them the best possible chance of recovery and survival,” said Jamie Sinko – Director of Development. “Rural communities deserve high quality stroke care. I’m proud of our team for their commitment to stroke care excellence and this achievement.” The award recognizes hospitals for their efforts toward acute stroke care excellence demonstrated by composite score compliance to guideline-directed care for intravenous thrombolytic therapy, timely hospital inter-facility transfer, dysphagia screening, symptom timeline and deficit assessment documentation, emergency medical services communication, brain imaging and stroke expert consultation. “Patients and health care professionals in Decatur County face unique health care challenges and opportunities,” said Karen E. Joynt Maddox, M.D., MPH, volunteer expert for the American Heart Association, co-author on “Call to Action: Rural Health: A Presidential Advisory From the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association” and co-director of the Center for Health Economics and Policy at the Institute for Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. “Memorial Hospital and Manor has furthered this important work to improve care for all Americans, regardless of where they live.”

  • MHM is proud that a couple of team members were able to help the Salvation Army serve dinner to the Emory medical team that has been in Decatur County this week providing health care services to our migrant farm workers. The Emory team provides an invaluable service each year to these workers and we were glad to be able to show our support.
