At a time when #GenderEquality, #WomensRights, and #LGBTQIA+ rights are under attack and society is grappling with questions around #masculinity, the world is searching for answers to the question of how to call men and boys in to gender equality efforts. 🌍 MenEngage Alliance an international community of more than 1,100 members facilitating gender–transformative change among men and boys... every day, and in different contexts around the world. 📢 #HowToTalkWithMen is a campaign to elevate the diverse, positive, everyday stories of change among men and boys that often go unheard–from across MenEngage Alliance and beyond. 🗓 From 11-22 November we will be sharing those stories from the people who make up this network and wider community of people working every day to call men and boys in for gender justice.

📢 At the #EcoMenSummit2024, we had the honor of hearing from Nayoka Martinez Bäckström, First Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka, who shared powerful words on the impact of the EcoMen initiative: "As an initiative, EcoMen aims to address gender biases and stereotypes in order to strengthen environmental stewardship in communities. There are a number of lessons and results being produced by EcoMen which are very relevant and can be shared elsewhere. EcoMen has shown that it has the possibilities to continue to be not just a project, but a long-term movement for changing mindsets and improving the way environmental development and resilience can be achieved." Engaging men in care work is a powerful catalyst for achieving #genderequality and fostering a world where everyone can thrive. When men actively participate in #caregiving, they help create a more equitable distribution of responsibilities. This shift not only nurtures healthier relationships but also ignites a broader societal transformation that benefits us all. To reimagine care is to reshape society as a whole. By involving men in caregiving, we challenge the harmful patriarchal norms that have long undervalued this vital work, shining a light on the essential contributions that care encompasses. Together, we can build a world where caregiving is celebrated, and where the act of caring knows no gender! This International Day of Eradicating #Poverty, we highlight why #poverty is a #gender issue. Let us come together to contribute towards the advancement of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, in particular #SDG5 on #GenderEquality and #WomenEmpowerment.

Members of the MenEngage Climate Justice Working group are meeting in Belgium this week. As well as discussing how we aim to address the intersection of masculinity and climate justice, we have planted trees and had a tour at the cooperative food farm of one Working Group member, Katrien.

🗓️This #DayOfTheGirl is a reminder that girls have a vision for gender justice, and that men and boys can act as allies in the realisation of this vision.

As global politics evolve, masculinity is increasingly being used as a tool to stoke fear and anxiety. In the #USElections, for example, we're seeing conservative narratives that equate leadership with dominant ideas masculinity. This trend isn’t isolated to the U.S.—it’s a global phenomenon. We are an alliance of thousands of organisations and individuals working every day to challenge and dismantle the idea that being a man is about power, control, dominance, or aggression. And to help more men and boys break down - and break free from - limited notions of how they should act or think based on "being a man". The work our members do around the world is essential to ending gender based inequalities and violence, and building a just and equitable society for all. Not to mention helping boys and men to live more authentic, connected, healthier and happier lives - for themselves and the people around them.
