MENTOR CEO Jermaine Myrie joined in celebrations yesterday at the renaming of the North Washington Street Bridge in Boston as the William Felton 'Bill' Russell Bridge honoring the life of the late Bill Russell. The civil rights activist and Boston Celtics legend was a founding board member of MENTOR, and we're so glad to see his legacy live on. We are eternally grateful for his contributions to the mentoring movement and push for high-quality mentorship.❤️ “Bill Russell was a captain on various teams, the first black coach of a major American sports team, and an unmatched champion on and off the basketball court. He believed that in America there was no such thing as other people's children. He championed the power of mentoring and the lasting impact of the connections it allowed for. It is fitting that there is now a bridge in Boston that will bear his name connecting people and places as he did in so many ways.” - Jermaine Myrie In attendance were Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Massachussetts Governor Maura Healey, Bill's widow, Jeannine Russell, and Jaylen Brown, Wyc Grousbeck, and Steve Pagliuca from the Boston Celtics, as well as President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Boston, David Shapiro. #MentoringAmplifies
