Meet James Conners, one of our passionate Men Wear Pink of Lane County ambassadors! 🙌 Men Wear Pink is a powerful initiative that unites community leaders across the country to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support services.
For James, his personal journey inspired him to take action. He shares, "I’m a Men Wear Pink Ambassador because my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. Since her mother passed away from the same disease, our thoughts immediately went to the worst-case scenario. We went from immediate dread to thinking about how we would tell our three-year-old.
After learning more about my wife’s specific type of breast cancer, her treatment schedule, the likelihood of success, and all the research and support programs available, we knew we would pull through. During that whole experience, we were amazed by how much information is available, and how much research has been done on different types of breast cancer and how to approach them. It was clear that the fight against breast cancer had come a long way.
A lot of people think that once someone rings a bell, their battle for survival is over. The truth is their battle starts the day they are diagnosed and continues for the rest of their life. From doctor checkups and follow-up treatments, surviving cancer is a fight for the long haul. I continue to participate in Men Wear Pink because, as long as my wife continues to fight, so will I right alongside her.”
Thank you, James, for turning your experience into a force for good!
