MVC continues to treasure a note that accompanied a donation from alumna, Michele Schroeck, RSM ‘88. The note simply says, "MVC Changed My Life. Thank You." and its message stays with us. As we celebrate a new group of #MercyVolunteers embarking on their first month of service, we invite all MVC Alumni to join us in honoring your own service experience. Share in the memories and contribute what you can to our August Alumni Campaign. Thanks to one generous MVC alumna who recently pledged a $1,500 matching gift, your donation will make twice the difference. By giving, you'll help create a meaningful beginning for the new Mercy Volunteers and provide essential support to our five service cities and Guyana. Make your tax-deductible donation today and continue the legacy of building community through service! Contribute today at https://bit.ly/3yJWrDM.

Welcome new Mercy Volunteer, Hunter! “I am most looking forward to serving others and the growth and learning I know I'll experience. I'm looking forward to how challenging this year of service will be, because I've always grown the most in difficult moments. I am so excited to learn the skills I need to help people heal and love themselves, and I am eager to find and explore my own place in the service of others and pursuit of social justice.” As we continue our August Alumni Campaign, we invite alumni to donate and help ensure the success of Hunter’s goals and the other #MercyVolunteers, too. Donate today at https://bit.ly/3yJWrDM!

Welcome back for a second service year, Micaela! “I chose Mercy Volunteer Corps because of their unique mission. I attended a Mercy high school where I learned about the Critical Concerns and Core Values of the Sisters of Mercy. Since my time in high school, I have continued to focus on the Mercy mission. Mercy Volunteer Corps emphasizes volunteering in mutuality, and I think this focus is very important in service work. I am excited to continue my service journey as a Mercy Volunteer in Guyana!” Help us continue to support Micaela and the other new Mercy Volunteers as they commit to living a simple lifestyle in community while focusing on compassionate service, social justice, and spiritual growth. The 2024-2025 #MercyVolunteers will gather in Philadelphia for their Orientation Retreat in just a few days! This year's theme, "Pebble Effect: Ripples of Mercy," will serve as a constant guide throughout their service year. “We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world. We repeat, there is nothing that we can do but love, and, dear God, please enlarge our hearts to love each other, to love our neighbor, to love our enemy as well as our friend.” -Dorothy Day
