🌊 Project Spotlight: Happy Canyon Creek Restoration 🌊 The southern suburbs of Denver, CO around Happy Canyon Creek are experiencing rapid development, leading to increased stream corridor changes. To tackle this challenge, we partnered with the Mile High Flood District (MHFD), the City of Lone Tree, CO (CoLT), Rampart Range Metro District, and Coventry Development Corp. The goals of the project included: 🌱Stabilizing stream bed and channel bank areas 🌱Reconnecting the creek to its floodplain to reduce erosive shear stresses 🌱Reducing the potential for future erosion from increased urban runoff 🌱Reducing flow rates to below pre-development conditions for downstream flood protection Our team implemented custom grading along the drainageway, which allowed the preservation of the area's natural appearance. We also created secondary low-flow channels that enhanced aquatic and riparian habitats. In addition, we developed an adaptive management plan to help the MHFD and CoLT identify and address potential future erosion risks. Come back to this space tomorrow to learn more about how adaptive management was used on this project. We’re proud to be part of this crucial project, enhancing the resilience and sustainability of Happy Canyon Creek. 🌿🏞️ #wearemerrick

Congratulations to the Upper Thompson Sanitation District on securing EPA WIFIA and Colorado State Revolving Fund loan funding for their Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Lift Station Improvements project! The project serves the District and the wider Estes Valley by providing a new WRF and lift stations to replace the current 50-year old infrastructure and allow compliance with increasingly stricter treatment standards and current building codes. We were happy to celebrate the District and the EPA recently during a celebration held at the District's administration offices in Estes Park. #wearemerrick

Merrick is on a mission to uncover the Earth’s hidden potential through five geophysical projects as part of a groundbreaking partnership with Surdex Corporation, a Bowman company, and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Focused on finding critical minerals, these surveys stretch across Wyoming and Utah, where we are mapping key areas that could potentially power the future. Backed by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this work is all about using cutting-edge data to reshape the landscape of clean energy and sustainability. It’s an exciting step toward a smarter, more self-sufficient tomorrow. #wearemerrick
