Rider Naajia reached out to us to pat Conductor Ken on the back: Conductor Ken always greets his passengers with a smile and he looks out for our safety by reminding us to gather our belongings in advance of the station stops and use the handholds when going to the train door. During the morning rush, one may be in a hurry and forget to do these things, but hearing these safety reminders from the conductor helps us to keep safety first, no matter how hectic our mornings are. In addition, Conductor Ken keeps his passengers well-informed. He announces which track at L.A. Union Station we will arrive on so we can better get to our transit connections. I had a question about the latest schedule updates, and he helped me find the resource for that information. Conductor Ken is an excellent example of Metrolink’s foundational values of safety and customer service.

    Chief Executive Officer - Metrolink

It’s time to start year 4 as CEO of Metrolink, Southern California’s regional passenger rail system. Just as I did the day after Labor Day three years ago on my first train ride to our DTLA office, I had to do what has become a tradition - taking a selfie with the conductor of my train - this time it’s with Frank. But, to add to the story this year, I also was able to get engineer Ricky to join us for the photo op. Anytime someone asks about my job I say it’s been the most wild ride ever. And, the next few years will be more of the same. I’m excited about Metrolink Reimagined, a whole new business model that adds new trains to our schedule with more trains in the middle of the day and into the evenings, to provide more train options and connections for our current riders and in hopes of attracting new riders. Our Student Adventure Pass program, providing free rides for students, has been an amazing succcess and is introducing the next generation of Southern Californians to the ease of using trains to navigate our region. Oh, and one last thing, the Olympic Games of LA28 is now less than four years away and we can no longer hide in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. The spotlight now brightly shines on all of us in the transportation space. We had better get busy. See you on the train. #takethetrain
