This week, the Michigan Public Transit Association spent time in Detroit visiting our members and using transit systems in Michigan's largest city. We learned about the great work being done at the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT), Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation, and the Detroit Transportation Corporation (People Mover). We took the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan DAX bus to the Detroit Metro Airport to join our friends at COMTO Michigan's membership meeting. Today brought the first-ever Michigan Mobility Conference hosted by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Office of Future Mobility & Electrification, where several MPTA members were announced as Equitable Mobility Challenge grant recipients. The conference brought plenty of energy to Newlab Detroit, next to the jaw-dropping Michigan Central station. Public transit is alive and well in Detroit!

Congratulations to Kelly Dunham and the whole team at Bay Area Transportation Authority on the official dedication of their new operations center! This facility brings together several previously-disjointed functions under one modern, sustainable roof. The transit facility is also being paired with a new workforce housing development to help meet two key needs for the growing Traverse City area. Thanks to MDOT's Jean Ruestman, FTA's Ajay Garg, Rep. Betsy Coffia, and other guests for commemorating this accomplishment, and thanks for including MPTA in the day.
