MVC partners with Michigan hospitals and physician organizations to support sustainable, high-value healthcare.
About us
The Michigan Value Collaborative, or MVC, is a partnership between Michigan hospitals, physician organizations, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network. The goal of the MVC is to help Michigan hospitals achieve their best possible patient outcomes at the lowest reasonable cost. MVC works in conjunction with the many specialty-specific Collaborative Quality Improvement (CQI) programs in BCBSM’s Value Partnership Program to understand variation in healthcare use, identify best practices, and lead interventions for improving care before, during, and after hospitalization. The program improves healthcare quality across Michigan through rigorous performance feedback, empirical identification of best practices, and collaborative learning. Chronic disease management has been a significant driver of healthcare utilization over the last decade, particularly for Type 2 Diabetes (T2D)—one of the most expensive chronic diseases in the U.S. In response, MVC recently partnered with the Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes (MCT2D) to produce a comprehensive statewide report on T2D, which impacts over 1 million adults in Michigan. The findings of this report were presented at the Michigan Obesity Summit, offering crucial insights into the demographics, healthcare utilization, and prescription patterns among patients with T2D in Michigan, insured by various providers from 2017 to 2023. To learn more about the key findings and trends, read this week’s blog: https://lnkd.in/gtcHQHCp #ChronicDiseaseManagement #Diabetes #PublicHealth #HealthInnovation

The MVC Coordinating Center recently published its annual Qualified Entity Certification Program (QECP) public report for 2024. Achieving QE certification allows MVC to provide hospital members with more detailed Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) claims data than standard CMS data use agreements typically permit. This year marks MVC’s third public QECP report, featuring invaluable insights into Michigan hospital performance on two key measures: (1) Rates of 30-day rehospitalizations following the start of home health care (2) Rates of outpatient follow-up after hospitalization for congestive heart failure (CHF) or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Learn about key findings and delve into the full 2024 report here: https://lnkd.in/gq6zDebf #Healthcare #Medicare #DataInsights #HospitalPerformance #QualityImprovement
