Our platform and global expertise allow for the identification of microbial signatures in circulating blood (ctmbDNA) that are predictive of cancer. This type of minimally invasive liquid biopsy uses blood samples, which can be more easily collected than solid tissue samples. Until recently, tissue and blood were believed to be microbe free, except in the case of an infection. What has been discovered is that tissue also has a microbiome, with very specific compositions to each tissue. In the case of cancer, these signatures can be found even in blood (ctmbDNA).
