  • Minnesota Department of Education staff members gathered this week for a day of professional development to learn and continue expanding skills to provide the best support to educators, students, schools and libraries. We started the day with an excellent panel discussion by a group of advocates for students with disabilities who shared about their own experiences in education, advocacy and the problems of ableism in education and in society.

  • Our Nutrition Program Services staff joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service last week in a visit to Fond du Lac Ojibwe School, Cloquet, MN to promote summer food programs, engage with Tribal community partners and celebrate Fond du Lac Ojibwe School as a grant recipient of a child nutrition program grant. The federal child nutrition program awarded Fond du Lac Ojibwe School together with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa a grant to educate school nutrition staff in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan on food sovereignty and Indigenous food procurement and preparation.

  • Join MDE as an Educator Workforce Consultant - Education Consultant 3   Salary Range: $37.98 - $56.50 / hourly; $79,302 - $117,972 / annually In this position, you will coordinate state efforts to design and implement programs - including but not limited to Minnesota's Grow Your Own grant - dedicated to the recruitment, diversification and retention of Minnesota's teacher workforce, so that districts, charter schools, teacher preparation programs, PELSB, and others implement effective state policies and grant programs that lead to all children having equitable access to a diverse and excellent teacher workforce.   • Support Specialist - State Program Administrator Salary Range: $31.57 - $46.82 / hourly; $65,918 - $97,760 / annually As the Investigations Support Specialist in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) within the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will provide professional administrative and office support, case management process development and support, and technical assistance to the newly established Special Investigative Unit (SIU) and the existing Student Maltreatment Program (SMP).
