The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) brings safety, hope and healing to domestic abuse violence victims and survivors. With over $65 million investments from state and federal sources, OJP funds services for those experiencing domestic violence, including legal advocacy and housing. The Crime Victim Reimbursement Program provides reimbursement for medical and mental health services, helping survivors of domestic abuse recover and heal. Earlier this month, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Commissioner Jacobson visited Cornerstone to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to witness firsthand the tireless work to protect and empower domestic abuse violence victims and survivors. Cornerstone provides a range of services to survivors, including Minnesota Day One, which ensures no call for help goes unanswered. If you are experiencing violence at the hands of a family member or loved one, help is available. Call 866-223-1111 or visit DayOneServices.org. #DomesticViolenceAwareness #DVAM2024

When your child leaves for college, there may be a lot of thoughts swirling in your head: Will they go to class, pass their exams, stay safe? As parents, it’s natural to worry, but a conversation now can help put at least one of those worries to bed. Talking to your college-aged kids about fire safety on and off campus is key. Learn how in our DPS blog. https://lnkd.in/grcyazQJ

Think back to the last time you were in a car. Did you buckle up before you left? If you’re like most Minnesotans, the answer is yes. The percentage of people buckling up reached a near all-time high of 94.7 percent this year when comparing observational data from 2010 through 2024. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Special Agent Heather Holden didn’t plan on a career in law enforcement. But after working in a 911 dispatch center, she decided she needed to do more than help people on the other side of the phone — she needed to help them get the justice they deserved. We’re recognizing her career in honor of National Police Women’s Day today. Learn more in our DPS blog. https://lnkd.in/gz_UrmzR
