In 2020, when widespread challenges from advertising platforms like Meta began to impact nonprofits’ ability to grow their programs, we got to work developing a tool that would allow nonprofits to keep up with their growth and revenue goals without being beholden to the whims of Big Tech. Four years later, The Digital Co-Op has grown to over 200 members – with 150 million email addresses – and has raised $183 million for progressive causes. This incredibly powerful tool identifies your very best audience from donation behavior and engagement signals – and is on the lookout for any negative signals to help us catch the kinds of recipients that could harm your deliverability and remove them from your targeted list. Nonprofits have experienced tremendous uncertainty in recent years. Critical to navigating these uncertainties is a source of growth you can count on. That’s why our teams uphold the highest standards of deliverability and sender reputation to protect your program and organization. The result? The Co-Op outperforms other sources of growth, not only in the scale it offers but also in value per name. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eD6q9Xpa

Tonight we watched Vice President Kamala Harris accept the presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention – some of us were live in Chicago, others gathered near our Washington, D.C. office to watch together, and some streamed from their homes around the country. This week of celebrating democracy and uplifting the leaders we support and partner with has been a powerful reminder of why each and every one of us are so passionate about the work we do and the causes we all care about. It’s the final night of the convention, but we still have 74 days of fundraising, outreach, and collective effort to keep this momentum strong through Election Day. Thank you to our partners, and thank you to our team for continuing to fight and hope for a positive future!

Our SVP Jane Shepard has penned some really insightful strategies to help you build your strongest possible end-of-year campaigns. Don’t miss her advice and top action items for the summer – check out the full blog below!

If you’re a nonprofit fundraiser wondering what to expect and how to prepare as we head toward this unusual end of year in 2024 – you’re not alone. I know you’ve got a lot on your mind even in these summer months, when Giving Tuesday and Dec. 31 are still distant points on the horizon. So I wanted to share some of my thinking as I’m working with our nonprofit partners to help them plan ahead to drive their strongest possible year-end campaigns. Of course, it’s never too soon to start planning for year-end, especially in a challenging giving environment and certainly when you’re aiming to integrate your campaigns across channels. With that in mind, I’ve put together a list of five strategies to consider right now as you’re planning for end of year. There’s so much more to say about each of these strategies, so I’ve pulled together all my thoughts in a full blog post that you can dig into on our MissionWired site (link below!) but here are the highlights of what’s top of mind for me right now: 1. Consider your post-election messaging. Your organization’s work may be impacted by the outcome in November – so if your nonprofit has something to say related to the issues at play in this year’s election, it can be helpful to start testing that messaging now. 2. Optimize your strategies with A/B testing. If there’s an innovative tactic you’ve been wanting to try, don’t wait until October to run those tests. 3. Target your best audience with the help of AI-powered models. The summer months are a critical window to grow your lists and reactivate lapsed supporters – and with The Digital Co-Op, you can find the best audience for your unique mission. 4. Don’t miss your chance to raise big over SMS. One strategy nonprofits should consider leveraging in their SMS programs is to use longcode acquisition texting to drive opt-ins to your shortcode program, growing your list of SMS subscribers ahead of major campaigns. 5. Integrate your creative across online and offline channels. That means planning now when direct mail plans are being finalized! And consider what integrated strategies you can A/B test in your year-end campaigns with measurable results: from co-targeting your direct mail list in digital ads to sending a postcard to website visitors who didn’t convert. At a time when incremental gifts can really make a difference, it’s extra touches and proactive strategies like these that can help you scrape every win that you possibly can during the biggest moments of the year. For a deeper dive into these strategies, you can read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/e4i3NUUw

If you're a nonprofit fundraiser who's been wondering how the election year will impact your program, the breaking news of the past few weeks is likely top of mind. In a historic moment like the one we’re navigating, we cannot be sure how the coming months will affect the fundraising landscape for nonprofits in the next 100 days and beyond. Our SVP Trista Murphy is taking our previous conversation on fundraising in an election year deeper in light of recent news, sharing key strategies your program can lean on whenever the news cycle heats up. We’re very excited to share that we submitted to host a panel discussion at the 2025 South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference with our partners at Teacher2Teacher and Principal Project. Check out our proposal titled, “Countering Polarization: Creating Community for a Good Cause,” and vote for us! Teacher2Teacher and Principal Project are special initiatives of the Gates Foundation working to support educators, school leaders, and students across the country. These initiatives have helped educators access new research, share best practices, and exchange information with each other to improve their teaching practices and resources. We’ve helped run Teacher2Teacher and Principal Project since 2016, innovating new creative strategies to foster their online communities. As online spaces have become increasingly polarized, complex dialogue around topics of equity has become increasingly difficult. MissionWired’s education practice has worked closely with initiative partners like NCTM and CASEL to curate productive digital communities that can model and hold respectful, generative dialogue. We would love the opportunity to gather these partners at SXSW next year to discuss the challenges we’ve faced and the solutions we’ve applied over the years. Learn more about our proposal and don’t forget to vote for us: https://hubs.li/Q02Khmzh0

Senior Digital Fundraising Manager at Brady

When Brady started to transform our advocacy-based SMS program into a fundraising focused one, we went in with a lot of hope, but largely blind, lacking industry standards by which to compare our results. That’s why it was particularly exciting to join my friends Aneesh, Mike, and Harper to present Tatango + MissionWired's Nonprofit Text Messaging Insights Report at The Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference last week! Alongside incredible insights about send times, click-through rates, and cadence, I was able to share some of Brady’s unique program approaches including our success on engagement-focused messaging that leads to a fundraising ask. Can you believe there was a 25% higher conversion rate on fundraising texts sent outside of the season of giving!? Brady: United Against Gun Violence has seen such success on SMS fundraising in the past years and it continues to grow as a vital revenue stream. I hope that having new industry benchmarks will encourage other programs to dig into SMS as a valuable source for revenue.  You can download the report here! https://lnkd.in/enwN6HHQ #Bridge24 #DigitalFundraising #Nonprofit

I am overjoyed to share that the REI Cooperative Action Network has surpassed the milestone of sending more than 1 million messages to decision-makers across federal, state and local levels. This is a HUGE accomplishment for the co-op community and has helped drive more than 13 historic wins for life outdoors. That translates to more than $1 billion in state parks funding, over 246 million acres of public lands protected, $45 million in funding for multi-use trails, and so much more.    This was truly a team effort. Kudos to all who contributed, whether through personal advocacy, sharing with their community, organizations partnering with us or the unsung heroes within our digital, marketing, store and communication teams who built campaigns and communicate over our channels! h/t Sam Ephgrave Taldi Harrison Joshua Groppe Brian Jones David Duffy Ramon Tapales Natalie Wong Sarah Jenkins Katie Sweeney Danielle Zaklan MissionWired Julia-Anne Ondich Josh Petri Caitlin Goettler Maura Rendes Liza Tewell Jonathan Springer Moriah Potena Warren Seuradge Danielle Vasan Tom Bugert Cristin Kingman Jason Montoya Lorenzo Trisolini Keziah Jamie Klouse Nicole M.
