30 Year Vétéran at the White House, Executive Chef Christeta Comerford, has announced her retirement. She broke barriers and nourished souls during her tenure of cooking for five presidents. Vox Media reported that Executive chef Cristeta Comerford is retiring from her job at the White House after nearly 30 years. She joined the kitchen in 1995 as an assistant chef under the Clinton administration and cooked for four more presidents since. She was the first woman and person of color to be executive chef for the head of state. First Lady Jill Biden thanked her for her service in a statement on Tuesday, saying “Chef Cris has led her team with warmth and creativity, and nourished our souls along the way.”

United States Capitol Hill I met with staff at the House of Representatives Committee on Small Business last Thursday. They were very hospitable and dedicated to fulfill their mandate to help Small Businesses with their headquarters in the U.S.A. work with the SBA. I discussed the serious need for U.S. citizens living abroad with foreign addresses for their headquarters to have access to U.S. government funding to grow their businesses. As our expatriate citizens work to grow their companies they reach out to companies based in the U.S.A. to order goods and services. This increases jobs in both countries. Trade creates jobs!!!
My colleague, Satu Limaye, has written an interesting piece on U.S. Relations with Southeast Asia. Throughout the years there has been growth and development by all the S.E.A. countries.

We just attended the Memorial Day Ceremony at our Great Falls, Virginia Library. It was complete with an Air Force Bugler who played Taps, a high schooler played the Bagpipes and two other high schoolers sang several wonderful songs. Afterwards we went across the street. I was sitting in a small garden when an older gentleman came over and started chatting. It turned out that he served in the U.S. Navy for 33 years. His work was first with the U.D.T. and then the SEALS. I shared that my brother also served doing the same work. What a coincidence!!! It was lovely chatting with him. My thoughts on this Memorial Day in the United States of America.
Monday is Memorial Day in the United States when we salute our soldiers and veterans. Dear Friends and Colleagues, This year on Memorial Day in the U.S.A. I am in a somber mood with all of the conflicts occurring throughout the world. So many soldiers and civilians worldwide have been wounded or died while fighting or just being in harm’s way. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the serving soldiers and veterans who work or worked tirelessly to protect our democracy. I also appreciate the spouses, families and friends who support our soldiers during and after their active service. My prayers continue for the soldiers and their families who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. God bless you all and God bless America.
