Electric vehicle costs have been coming down, with the average price of a new model almost 10% lower than a year ago and used models down 32%. However, findings from Mitchell's research, as reported in Fortune, show that average repair costs were 29% higher for EV owners than their ICE-owning counterparts, and the average repair took almost twice as long. New internal combustion engine vehicles are comparable to EVs in terms of their complexity and cost to repair. However, the cost of repairing electric cars continues to be higher than that of ICE vehicles. One reason for higher repair costs is the significantly longer repair time.
