About us
The Mitchell Museum of the American Indian celebrates its 45th anniversary this year, guided by a reimagined vision and anchored by Indigenous leadership. We strive to set a new standard for museums representing Indigenous peoples and cultures. For us, this means consulting Native individuals and communities, reclaiming Native history by confronting the legacy of colonialism, and creating authentic and engaging narratives by presenting collections, exhibitions, and stories through an Indigenous lens.
