We are thrilled to have participated in T-REX 24-2, an event put on by Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and alongside the United States Department of Defense and leading industry partners at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. At the heart of our demonstration was CUTLASS, our maritime automated target recognition (ATR) software, integrated with Ocean Aero Inc's Triton USV platform, performing near-horizontal ATR against maritime targets.
When platforms can’t speak the same language, CUTLASS steps in, automating the exchange and processing of real-time target data at the tactical edge and back to the JOC. This not only simplifies operations but significantly reduces the cognitive load on operators, allowing them to focus on decision-making when the stakes are high. By empowering operators to dominate the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act), CUTLASS reshapes how autonomous and crewed missions are conducted with models that require less data and the ability to quickly integrate across platforms.
“The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemy’s.” — Napoleon Bonaparte
A huge thanks to Under Secretary Heidi Shyu, the team from OUSD R&E, and the Indiana National Guard for organizing and running one of the best and most well-run events we’ve seen. We also extend our appreciation to the Ocean Aero Inc team for the opportunity to integrate CUTLASS on their Triton USV platform. We look forward to continued partnerships as we work hard to build the foundational AI for defense and push the boundaries of responsible AI.
