Exciting updates from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in downtown Sacramento! Mogavero Architects is thrilled to be working on a 2-phase project for this beloved community haven, just six blocks from our office. We’re currently in the early design stages of Phase 1, which focuses on transforming the church office into a more open and welcoming space. In addition, we’re creating a master plan for the entire campus to guide future improvements, ensuring they align with the church’s mission and the evolving needs of the neighborhood. While there’s more to plan, our design principles aim to strengthen the church’s connection to its surroundings and enhance its ability to serve the community for generations to come. Design principles include: - Blending existing design features to create a seamless connection between the old and new elements. - Creating a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor spaces by incorporating covered outdoor areas. - Integrating nature and greenery into an urban plaza to create welcoming gathering spaces and provide natural shade. This project holds special significance for our team. Richard, one of our designers, has a personal connection to the church, having grown up attending services and playing soccer in the auditorium. Now, he has the opportunity to contribute to the future of a place that has been a vital part of Sacramento’s Spanish-speaking community for years. Stay tuned for more updates!

The ENR Regional Best Project Awards celebrate groundbreaking design and construction teams across the U.S., with winners selected by independent juries of industry leaders from ENR's 10 regional editions. 805 Riverfront showcases a blend of innovative urban design, sustainable construction, and community-focused amenities, transforming West Sacramento’s riverfront into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly environment and setting a new standard for mixed-use development. We had an amazing time celebrating the grand opening of Fair Haven Commons with the MidPen Housing Corporation team! This new 72-unit affordable housing community in Fairfield, CA, provides essential homes and supportive services to families and formerly unhoused individuals. We’d like to extend a special thank you to MidPen Housing, Deacon Construction, LLC, the City of Fairfield, California, and the Fairfield Housing Authority for their incredible partnership in making this project a reality. Fair Haven Commons consists of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income. Over half of the units are designated for referrals from Solano County Social Services and the County’s Coordinated Entry System, while additional units are leased through the Fairfield Housing Authority or a lottery system. Many residents are also utilizing Housing Choice Vouchers. The development features seven 2- and 3-story buildings surrounding a central green space with amenities for the community, including a BBQ area, playground, and space for recreation. Onsite supportive services provided by MidPen Housing help residents thrive in this vibrant new community. #AffordableHousing #CommunityDevelopment #SupportiveHousing
