  • In coaching leaders, I frequently hear varying examples of what I call “It’s lonely at the top.” The higher you go, the fewer peers you have who truly understand the challenges you face. But here’s the good news: It doesn’t have to be that way! It’s thinking about creating and nurturing a different network than maybe you had before. Here are some steps to help you find connection and support: 1️⃣ Join Peer Networks: Look for groups where you can connect with other leaders who get it. These are your new best friends who understand the joy of navigating corporate politics or balancing budgets—over a virtual coffee, of course. 2️⃣ Find a Mentor or Coach: Think of them as your leadership GPS—guiding you around potholes, helping you take shortcuts, and reminding you when you’re about to drive off a cliff. 3️⃣ Build Your Own Support Squad: Form a small group of trusted peers—inside or outside your organization—with whom you can regularly meet to discuss challenges, celebrate wins, and offer mutual support. This kind of camaraderie can make a world of difference. 4️⃣ Stay Connected with Trusted Advisors: Keep a few folks close who aren’t afraid to give you the real talk. You need people who will say, "Hey, maybe don’t send that email in ALL CAPS." 🚨 Remember, even if it feels like it, leadership doesn’t have to be a solo sport. By building strong connections with others who understand the highs and lows, we can find support, share a laugh, and make the journey a lot less lonely. #Leadership #PeerSupport #FindYourTribe #Mentorship #YouAreNotAlone

  • Great leaders know that the best ideas don’t always come from the top—they come from a culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute. Our role as leaders is to cultivate an environment where creativity, collaboration, and innovation can flourish! By fostering psychological safety, encouraging diverse perspectives, and valuing every voice, we unlock the true potential of our teams. How are you creating space for great ideas in your organization? #PsychologicalSafety #Innovation #Culture #HumanCentered

  • Feeling unaccomplished, unmotivated, or unproductive lately? We often don't give ourselves as much credit as we should! We move so quickly and juggle so much, we don't even realize it. Take a moment to reflect on everything you have accomplished the past few weeks - items both big and small, professional and personal. If we all wrote down what we did in any given week, we would probably be impressed with ourselves! #HumanCentered #Motivation #Accomplishments

  • Back-to-school season is a reminder that learning doesn’t end in the classroom! As leaders, our growth is an ongoing journey. Investing in our own learning and development is crucial—not just for our personal growth, but for the success of our teams and organizations. Whether it's through books, courses, coaching, or simply being curious, continuous learning equips us with fresh perspectives and new skills that enable us to lead more effectively. Let’s embrace this season as an opportunity to sharpen our tools, expand our knowledge, and inspire those we lead to do the same! #Leadership #LessonsLearned #GrowthMindset #HumanCentered

  • As leaders, we’re constantly navigating challenges, seizing opportunities, and adapting to change. One of the most valuable aspects of leadership is the ability to reflect on our experiences and extract lessons that can guide us forward. Sharing our lessons learned is vital—not only for our own development but also to inspire and support those around us. When we open up about our experiences, we create a culture of learning and collaboration that benefits everyone! We’d love to hear from you: What’s one lesson you’ve learned in the first half of the year that has impacted your leadership style or approach? Let’s learn from each other and continue to grow together as we move forward into the next chapter. #Leadership #LessonsLearned #GrowthMindset #HumanCentered

Vulnerability—a concept we hear about more and more, yet many of us still struggle with it, especially in the workplace. Why should I be vulnerable? How can I be vulnerable while maintaining confidence and credibility in my role? In this episode of 5 Minute Motivation (which, full disclosure, ran a bit longer at 9 minutes), I had the pleasure of speaking with Dori Wittman, Employee Benefits Consultant at HUB International about this topic. Dori is one of those “super connectors” and her secret sauce is vulnerability. It’s been the key to her success both inside and outside of work, and I’ve been lucky enough to see it first hand. Thank you, Dori, for sharing your thoughts and inspiring us to get out of our comfort zone and be REAL! #Authenticity #Vulnerability #HumanCentered #Leadership

  • Have you had to make an unpopular decision recently? 💭 Here's some tips on how to navigate it with your team. In addition to explaining the why and helping them move forward, show empathy and understanding. It does not weaken your position or indicate that your decision was incorrect! It serves to connect with your team to let them know you see them, hear them, and acknowledge that this is not easy. Keep the lines of communication open! Did you find this helpful? • One of the biggest challenges we see with performance evaluations is not what happens during that process, but more so about what happened (or didn't) well before we get to the point of performance evaluations. Performance evaluations should be focused on feedback relative to expectations, as well as a summary/recap of previous feedback conversations. We run into trouble if the above 2 things did not happen all year! We recommend quarterly "mini-reviews" to ensure that you are reviewing/updating the big goals, and ensuring you are recapping/providing holistic feedback along the way. This process not only helps performance and engagement all year long, it will make the annual review more effective and fair. Need support to revitalize performance management in your organization? Contact us today to develop a new process that provides tangible meaning and value in your organization. #leadership #training #development #performancereviews #humancentered

  • Recently promoted? Here's how to smoothly transition from an individual contributor role to a leadership position. 1️⃣ Recognize that your success is now intertwined with the success of your team! This shift in mindset means that your technical skills, while important, are no longer the primary way you will make an impact in your company. 2️⃣ Developing leadership skills is essential and can be cultivated just like any other skill. Even if you have natural leadership qualities, actively seek resources and training to enhance this new skill set. To accelerate your growth, engage with your team to understand their leadership preferences and needs. Did you find this helpful?
