Our Global Minds' Business Resource Group invited staff to join the Women of the Executive Council for their Annual Women’s Equality Day Photo. We are proud to support Women's Equality Day, celebrated annually in the United States on August 26th to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. #womensequalityday #equality

Thank you to the Long Branch Police Department for their thoughtful donation of fun activity bags for our pediatric patients. The bags contained coloring books featuring first responders along with crayons, stickers and other crafts. The police officers delivered the activity bags that they planned to distribute August 6th at the City's 24th annual National Night Out Against Crime, an event that was cancelled due to the threat of severe weather. National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Thank you Long Branch Police for bringing this important campaign to our young patients!

This week we held a meet and greet with our new Chief Nursing Officer Ann Szapor, who has nine years’ experience as a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Nursing with Magnet-designated facilities. She joins us from Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, the largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas, were she served as Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to that, she served as CNO for Ocala Regional Medical Center in Florida. For Ann, this new nursing leadership role is a return to her roots in New Jersey, where she served as Assistant Vice President for AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, as well as Executive Director, Women's/Children's Health Services. The Department of Academic Affairs at Monmouth Medical Center has introduced an Administrative Fellowship, a year-long fellowship program focused on hospital administration, and welcomed our first resident in July. Members of the Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean (IAATO), an organization that has a long history of supporting The Unterberg Children’s Hospital and the community it serves, traveled to MMC today to deliver proceeds from their annual car show fund-raiser. The highly successful event, which was held June 9th and exceeded its $10,000 goal for 2024, benefits MMC's Pediatric Department outreach in support of local families with young children who are facing food insecurity. Joe Boscia, IAAOT treasurer who who spearheads this initiative and organizes the annual IAATO Auto Show, presents a ceremonial check for $12,000 to MMC Chair of Pediatrics Dr. Jonathan Teitelbaum. Last year alone, the Pediatric Department screened and provided 200 bags of food for families with children up to 13 years old that were facing food insecurity. This year, they are expanding the program and expect to feed at least 300 families. Thank you IAATO for your ongoing generous support of our local families!
