We launched our pilot MCM BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ Fellowship over the summer, which concluded with a viewing of their work on Monday night. It’s been an honor to work with the Fellows on their digital storytelling journey and help them sharpen their journalism skills. I can’t wait to find out what they do next. I'm very grateful to have worked with and had the support of my colleagues through this journey! Thank Montgomery Community Media for this wonderful experience. This past summer, I completed my digital storytelling fellowship with Montgomery Community Media. I produced a piece on food insecurity and having access to culturally-relevant food in Montgomery County and its diverse population. As a first-generation Gambian-American, this project was a labor of love to my community and the many immigrants that make up this county. I am thankful to MCM for giving me the voice to platform this story and hoping that there is change for us in the county! Thank you to Tanya Doka-Spandhla and Truphena Choti of AfriThrive for sharing your story and your strive for food justice. Thank you to the staff and fellows for supporting me and guiding me on this journey. There was a lot we discussed in our interviews, but here is the the final product!
