Great conversation with Steven Overly, host of POLITICO Tech, Andreas Constantinides and Kevin Vindevogel from our partner firm AK Public Affairs, and Andrew Howell, Monument's Cyber & Tech Practice Lead, on what to expect from the European Union (EU) following their recent parliamentary elections. The discussion focused on tech and cyber policy proposals that are expected to be taken up by the new EU Commission and how they may impact American companies. We look forward to continuing the transatlantic dialogue and hosting more events like this in the future!

Thanks, Fortinet, for the opportunity to have OTCC Executive Director Andrew Howell participate in yesterday's "Secure by Design: Important Considerations for OT" webinar! It was fun to have him join Grant Geyer of Claroty and Jim Richberg for this discussion on the shift toward "secure by design" for industrial organizations, ensuring cybersecurity for both legacy and modern OT systems. #OTSecurity

This week, our client Jacqueline Siebens, Director of Public Affairs at Helion Energy, had her Senate testimony featured in a Wall Street Journal video discussing the global race for fusion energy development. Jackie's testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee highlighted the significant steps China has taken to develop fusion technology and clearly defined the steps the United States must take to remain a global leader in fusion energy deployment. Read Jackie's post below to learn more about Helion's work and watch the WSJ video (keep an eye out at the 3:50 mark!).
We're in a race—not just for clean energy, but for the geopolitical and economic power that comes with leading the commercial fusion marketplace. The Wall Street Journal just released a great video on this very topic. As I recently testified before the Senate, fusion is the future, and the U.S. must seize this moment. The stakes for energy leadership have never been higher. You can read my full testimony here: https://lnkd.in/eKhHpJFz Here’s why it matters: Global electricity demand is set to double by 2050. Fusion, as a clean, firm energy source, offers a game-changing solution to meet this demand. The country that leads in deploying fusion technology will control the future of energy. We’ve seen this story before. The U.S. pioneered electric vehicles (EVs) and solar technology, but China now accounts for 60% of the world’s EV sales, while the U.S. lags at 10%. We can’t let this happen again with fusion. China is already outspending the U.S. 2-to-1 on fusion and has created state-owned companies to lead fusion deployment. The race is on, and new data shows China is manufacturing EVs on a scale equal to the entire output of the U.S. auto industry. Let that sink in. The U.S. is now fighting to "reshore" manufacturing for EVs and solar. We don’t have to make that mistake with fusion. We need policies today that accelerate domestic fusion deployment—so we can win from the start. Fusion is designed for mass production. At Helion, we’re building scalable, modular power plants that can roll off assembly lines. But China knows this and is moving fast to dominate the supply chain. Leading in fusion isn’t just about energy. It’s about securing economic growth, job creation, and national security. Whoever builds faster will control the global energy market for generations. The U.S. must act now. We need a comprehensive national fusion policy that fast-tracks manufacturing, strengthens supply chains, and keeps America ahead. Let’s not repeat the mistakes we made with EVs and solar. Let’s secure U.S. leadership in the energy industry of the future.
What China’s Rapid Gains in Nuclear Fusion Mean for the U.S.
