Military Appreciation Day is a special day each year at Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp. As we highlighted yesterday, Mosaic CEO Mike Poore, FACHE, created commemorative Mosaic Chiefs Training Camp dog tags for the service men and women who attended camp today. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country. As training camp wraps up this year at Missouri Western State University. Mosaic is once again proud of our community for the support of camp and also proud to be the official health care sponsor each year.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs will take to the Mosaic Life Care Training Fields at Missouri Western State University for the final day of Training Camp. Every year on the final day of camp, the Chiefs invite military members from across Kansas and Missouri to watch their final training camp practice, as well as meet and greet the players. Mosaic Life Care Chief Executive Officer, and former airman, Mike Poore, FACHE, came up with a creative way to show Mosaic's appreciation for veterans when they attend camp. Thank you to all our service men and women!

Last week, we celebrated our annual School at Work (SAW) graduation. SAW helps our most valuable resources – our caregivers – who are motivated to reach their full potential. The SAW program emphasizes our commitment to advancing front-line caregivers into clinical, clerical and support roles. During a six-month period, caregivers attended classes on afternoons one day a week and received coaching on life management and career planning while completing the health care specific curriculum. This results in a win-win situation: engaged caregivers are achieving personal career goals that have a positive impact on our organization. Congratulations to our 2024 SAW graduates! 🎓 Desi Bruns, medical biller, Revenue Cycle 🎓 Sophia Enzbrenner, patient care representative, Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph – Ear, Nose and Throat 🎓 Chris Gatrel, representative, Remote Monitoring, Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph, Medical Center 🎓 Andrea Miller, GI technician specialist, GI Center, Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph, Medical Center 🎓 Regina Organ, access representative, Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph – Cardiovascular Care 🎓 Brittany Wetmore, patient care representative, Regional Resource Pool, Mosaic Life Care

Congratulations to our recent #DAISYAward recipient, Hannah Taber, RN, with the Critical Resource Unit, at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph, Medical Center. The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. In St. Joseph it is awarded monthly. Hannah was recognized by a fellow caregiver for assisting her in acting quickly and effectively advocating for her patient when they started to show early signs of sepsis. Her nomination reads: “Hannah Taber, RN, deserves the Daisy Award for her excellent assessment skills and her diligence in advocating for her patients in difficult situations. On Monday, June 17, 2024, Hannah was caring for patients on 2East. Hannah recognized signs and symptoms of worsening sepsis and noted changes in vital signs from morning to afternoon. Despite the surgeon's plan to take the patient to surgery the following day, Hannah asked the Rapid Response Nurse (RRN) for assistance to sort through the patient's assessment, diagnosis and plan. Hannah's assessment was accurate, and indeed, the patient was showing signs of decompensation and worsening infection. Upon RRN's suggestion, Hannah contacted the surgery team members and the attending physician with her urgent request to see the patient's changes for themselves. She also suggested IV fluid initiation and a transfer order to step down for closer monitoring of the patient. Within approximately an hour of Hannah's assessment, phone calls, etc., the patient was seen and underwent surgery a few hours later. The patient was transferred to ICU post-operatively and was more stable than expected (per night staff and anesthesia team report before surgery). I truly believe the stability of the patient afterward was due to Hannah's early recognition of the patient's worsening condition and her diligence in getting the providers to the bedside to see for themselves. As a nurse, it is sometimes difficult to nudge forward and urge providers to rethink their plans after seeing and speaking with the patients. This was a difficult situation. It required more time, more phone calls, more lab work, more personnel, and rearrangements with the OR schedule, but Hannah knew the patient's safety and best possible outcome depended on all of this "extra work." Hannah, I am proud to work alongside you. You are a great role model for the nurses and caregivers around you!” Please join us in congratulating Hannah for receiving The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses! To nominate the outstanding nurse in your life, complete the form on the Mosaic website at myMLC.com/daisy.
