  • Meet Eli one of our Little Victors from our 2024 calendar. “Eli was born with transposition of the great arteries, which required an arterial switch operation as an infant. Since that original surgery, he has had two more open-heart surgeries to repair his neoaortic valve. Recently, he had an additional hospital stay due to heart failure. Eli is a fighter and has worked hard to overcome obstacles and to keep going. He looks forward to graduating in May of 2024 and attending college that fall. We have been so blessed with the amazing care Eli receives at Mott. Dr. Adam Dorfman has been Eli's cardiologist for many years. I appreciate his kindness and gentle spirit. He truly cares and goes above and beyond for his patients. Also, I want to give a shout out to Logan, a PT on 11 West. He helped Eli find the strength to keep fighting when things got difficult.” Hail, Eli! Learn more at mottchildren.org/calendar.

  • Meet Nicholas one of our Little Victors from our 2024 calendar. “Nicholas was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot at 5 days old. He had open-heart surgery at 3 months old with Dr. Jennifer Hirsch Romano at Mott. Today, Nicholas is a thriving 13-year-old who loves to play percussion in the middle school band. He also loves to create beautiful works of art with his drawings. He is very creative with various forms of art and loves his advanced art class in school. Nicholas also participates each summer in a local triathlon and has completed this every year for several years. He also loves to attend the West Michigan Children's Congenital Heart Walk every year and help to raise money for other children with congenital heart conditions. He is looking forward to starting high school next year and participating in the marching band. Nicholas would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Hirsch Romano and all the staff at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital for helping him in his time of need.” Hail, Nicholas! Learn more at mottchildren.org/calendar.

  • Meet Reese one of our Little Victors from our 2024 calendar. “Reese was born at 34 weeks. She was born with Trisomy 21 and tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) heart defect. She was in Mott for 17 days and at 5 months, Dr. Romano did her open-heart surgery! She turned one year old in October 2023! Reese is thriving and has taught us so much in such a short time. All of the nurses and doctors at Mott went above and beyond for our family and we can't thank them enough for saving our girl!” Hail, Reese! Learn more at mottchildren.org/calendar.

  • Meet Harlow and Sawyer two of our Little Victors from our 2024 calendar. “Harlow and Sawyer were brought into this world early at 30 weeks on Sweetest Day (originally due Christmas Eve). Known as "twinplets", my little double rain-boho victors are true fighters, both staying 6-9 months of their lives in the NICU and PICU. They are both miracles and bring sunshine wherever they go. We still have a long way to go and are ready for what’s ahead. We have had such wonderful nurses when down in the NICU to even when I was a patient myself. Staying at the hospital for two months scared and alone is a lot on a mother to be. Deanne turned a horrible situation into feeling like home. She became a good friend and somebody I trusted with my children to be. In the NICU, we had Ally, Lauren, Mike and Sharon who treated my girls as if they were their own.” Hail, Harlow and Sawyer! • Meet Evan one of our Little Victors from our 2024 calendar. “Evan is one strong kiddo! He has down syndrome and a congenital heart defect. He was born at 35 weeks and 5 days and spent over a month in the hospital at birth due to needing oxygen and feeding support. He was the best baby, so calm and go with the flow. When he was about 5 months old, he went in to have his complete AVSD heart defect repaired. He had a rough recovery after surgery and ended up in the hospital for 37 days. He has been thriving and living his best life since then! We love him to pieces!” Hail, Evan! October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Learn more at mottchildren.org/calendar.
