This past Saturday, Mount Sinai Medical Center teamed up with the Family Resource Center of South Florida to pack over 300 backpacks for foster kids. The organization works to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and creating healthy, safe environments. At our medical center, we share the same belief that nothing is more important than the safety and health of our community. Mount Sinai is nationally recognized for providing world-class obstetric and gynecologic medicine from a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, neonatologists, and anesthetists, ensuring the best outcomes possible for mother and baby. In fact, our Labor and Delivery unit is the only one in the area to use PeriGen, a system that uses AI to analyze each patient’s vitals and data constantly. With PeriGen, physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals receive a visual indication of the patient’s current and previous conditions, cutting down on back-charting while increasing patient interaction. It’s no wonder Newsweek once again named us one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2024. Based on a nationwide survey of hospital managers and medical professionals, Mount Sinai is recognized for our compassion, expertise, and reliability in delivery and postpartum care. #MaternityCare #BestHospitals2024 #HealthyBabies #WeAreMSMC

Dr. Brian Slomovitz, Director of Gynecological Oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center was the senior author of a clinical trial that was published by the New England Journal of Medicine last week. This achievement highlights groundbreaking research in the field of gynecologic oncology. Key takeaways include: 1. The prognosis for patients with recurrent cervical cancer is poor. Limited treatment options are available when disease progression occurs after first-line combination therapy. 2. In this trial, researchers evaluated the efficacy and safety of Tisotumab Vedotin, a tissue factor-specific antibody linked to monomethyl Auristatin E, as compared with chemotherapy, in patients with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer. 3. The median overall survival was significantly longer in the Tisotumab Vedotin group than in the chemotherapy group (30% reduction in risk of death). The results for progression-free survival also favored Tisotumab Vedotin (33% reduction in risk of recurrence). 4. Among patients with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer after previous systemic therapy, treatment with Tisotumab Vedotin resulted in significantly greater efficacy than chemotherapy.
