MPZ Development LLC is thrilled to announce 34 East Springfield St. has been awarded a 2024 Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award from Preservation Massachusetts! This honor recognizes the commitment to historic preservation and community development at 34 East Springfield Street, a 150-year-old rowhouse in Boston's South End, transformed into a 100% affordable apartment community for formerly homeless veterans. Thank you to our partners, including Kitty Ryan and The Narrow Gate Architecture, Brian Lever of Epsilon Associates, Inc., David Schwarzman and Chad F. Griller of ZVI Construction, LLC., who helped bring this project to life. Thank you to our funding partners as well, whose support made this project possible, including the City of Boston and Sheila Dillon, Carolyn Barry and the Boston Housing Authority, Martin Connors,III and Dedham Savings, Louis J. Grossman, Jacob Grossman, David Grossman and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development VASH Veterans Supportive Housing Program. A special thanks to Matt Zahler's family Noel Z., Clara Zahler and Amy Rugo Zahler for their support and love along the way. Last week, MPZ Development LLC, in partnership with Boston Housing Authority and City of Boston Michelle Wu, celebrated the Grand Opening of 34 East Springfield Street, a deeply affordable veteran's housing community in Boston’s South End. 34 East Springfield Street comprises five(5), 100% affordable one-bedroom apartments for formerly homeless veterans. MPZ Development LLC was thrilled to collaborate with many excellent partners throughout the development process, including The Narrow Gate Architecture Ltd and ZVI Construction David Schwarzman and Chad F. Griller, who helped restore and preserve historic elements of the South End rowhouse. Thank you to our funding partners as well, whose support made this project possible, including the City of Boston, Neighborhood Housing Trust, Boston Housing Authority, Dedham Savings, the Grossman Family Louis J. Grossman, Jacob Grossman, David Grossman and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs HUD VASH Veterans Supportive Housing Program.
