Meet Sandy, a resilient mother of two and a proud wife since 2001, whose journey with cancer has reshaped her outlook on life, discovering her breast cancer after feeling an unsettling tug during a morning run. Months later, a biopsy revealed Stage II invasive ductal carcinoma, leading Sandy to make the empowering decision for a double mastectomy. After her surgery, she learned that donor tissue played a pivotal role in her recovery. “I was given this gift,” Sandy reflects, feeling both gratitude and sorrow for the family who made it possible. Now, as she embraces life at a slower pace, she’s committed to raising awareness about the importance of tissue donation. “If you were ever on the fence about being a donor, I hope my story proves how important it is.
