Each of these special coaches offers a unique type of support for our patients in recovery from alcohol, drugs, and other substances. Not only have these inspiring individuals achieved and maintained their own recovery from substance use disorders – but they bring this lived experience to their roles as Peer Recovery Coaches, serving as close confidants, navigators, advocates, and guides for our patients seeking recovery. “I was diagnosed with cancer about five years ago and started treatment at Cowell Family Cancer Center. The respect for dignity and compassion this team showed was stunning. Upon leaving a treatment session soon after I started, I mentioned to the greeter that someday I was going to work at Munson because I love to help people, and I enjoy listening to them as well. In 2023 I really felt like I needed to make a change in my career. My first thought was Munson. I have been a patient at Munson many times over the years. I have always been amazed by the staff, regardless of their role. I started as a greeter at the main hospital in November of 2023. I had expressed interest in working at Cowell if anything ever became available, and with the support of my team, it all came to fruition. It's hard to explain how much I look forward to coming to work each day. 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital's newly renovated Long Term Care Dining Room officially opened on September 3! After starting construction last spring and wrapping up with recent state inspections, the refreshed space is now a bright and welcoming haven for our residents and their families. Thanks to a generous donation from the Anchor and Heart Foundation and additional support from the Munson Healthcare Foundation, the dining room features beautiful local art and a calming atmosphere. We’re also rolling out new meal service plans to further enhance the dining experience for our residents. A special shoutout to Charles "Butch" Poswoski, who has been the heart and soul of our community since joining us in October 2022. As the President of the resident council, Butch passionately advocates for his fellow residents, infusing joy and energy into every gathering. He proudly cut the ribbon at the opening, marking a new chapter for everyone with his infectious enthusiasm and big heart. 💕👏 Here’s to many wonderful meals and moments in our new dining space!
