🎶 Open Call: MEUxKuKa Songwriting Camp 🎶 Music Export Ukraine and Kulturkarawane invite professional musicians from Ukraine and Germany to participate in a 5-day songwriting camp in Trier, Germany. The camp aims to foster collaboration between Ukrainian and German artists and promote shared values like human rights, freedom, and democracy. The camp will conclude with a concert open to the public. 📅 Camp Dates: Dec 8-13, 2024 📍 Location: Trier, Germany 🎟 Travel and accommodation cost is covered. Today, in Lviv, we are conducting research on the live music industry along with four other European cities. I'm looking forward to the results (and some great music today!).

🎵 The first European survey of the concert industry will take place in Lviv on Friday, October 11, 2024! This study provides a snapshot of live music events and their associated venues in five European cities. This research project is coordinated in Lviv by MusicExportUkraine and run by international consortia Open Music Europe   Starting from Fri, October 11, 2024 at noon, we will attend various concerts in Lviv within 24 hours. From open mics in small pubs to choral performances in large concert halls or arenas, a wide range of concert events will be recorded. 💃🏾 ✅ Are you in Lviv and do you like live music? ✅ Are you planning to attend a music concert on October 11, 2024? 🌍 Last week, our co-founder Alona Dmukhovska attended a general meeting of the Open Music Europe project, which unites organizations from 10+ countries. 👐🏼 We aimed to share the progress of our current activities and discuss the music industry's needs and how we can solve them using the tools we have or have the capacity to develop. 🎵 In a small circle, we had a chance to discuss an ongoing subproject, which will kick off in 5 European cities - The Live Music Census. It will run 24 hours from noon on 11th October 2024. The project will gather information about why people attend gigs, which venues are considered important, how much people spend and how far they travel. Building on the UK Live Music Census of 2017, this initiative aims to continue supporting and developing a sustainable live music ecology. The European Live Music census is coordinated by the OpenMusE project with Music Export Ukraine as a local coordinator for the city of Lviv. ✅ Our framework project, OpenMusE project runs from January 2023 to December 2025 and aims to enhance the European music industry by making it more competitive, fair, sustainable, and transparent. It involves stakeholders and researchers from 10 EU countries and Ukraine which will develop tools for measuring music's value and ensuring fair compensation.

To integrate the Ukrainian music industry into the European context, Music Export Ukraine is executing several activities in the framework of Open Music Europe (OpenMuse) project. According to it, Live Music Census research will be conducted in Lviv on Oct 11th 2024. The European live music scene is experiencing a vibrant resurgence post-pandemic, with numerous festivals and concerts scheduled in 2024 and beyond. In this context, the first-ever European live music census will be conducted by researchers from the Horizon Europe project OpenMusE on the 11th of October 2024. This Census will capture a snapshot of gigs and concerts in these cities by tracking various musical performances – from grassroots music to church choirs, from pub gigs to full-scale concerts. It also aims to measure live music’s value and discover what challenges artists and venues are facing to help the music scene flourish. Five European cities, Heidelberg and Mannheim (Germany), Helsinki (Finland, in cooperation with LiveFIN), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Lviv (Ukraine), are participating. The European Live Music census is coordinated by the OpenMusE project with researchers from the University of Turku, the SINUS Markt- und Sozialforschung GmbH in Germany, Music Export Ukraine and Music Export Fund in Lithuania. Music Export Ukraine is the local coordinator for the city of Lviv. We are delighted that our project manager Marianna Tanska contributed toWaves Vienna 2024 as a jury of the XA Export Award by radio FM4, Austrian Music Export, and Waves Festival. Congratulations to the winner – Lucy Dreams, well deserved! Also, Marianna was one of the experts at the UpBeat speed networking session and connected with many international artists. We were super proud of I hate myself because performed within the well-crafted showcase line-up and truly did an energetic show in a fully packed Kramladen with fans singing alone the songs. Every year Waves Vienna becomes a great platform for meeting the coolest people from the industry and discovering great music! We are extremely happy to meet alumni and current students of the Eastern European Music Academy there.
