💫 Meet Ukrainians at Reeperbahn Festival 2024 💫 🌍 For the fourth consecutive year, the official Ukrainian delegation will be at the Reeperbahn Festival — one of the most influential music business events in Europe — alongside colleagues from the CEEntral Party with HEMI Reception. During the reception, you’ll have the chance to network with industry professionals and band representatives, explore potential collaborations, and enjoy some drinks and great music. Later in the evening, you can catch performances by five outstanding bands from Romania, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Hungary. 📆 Timetable: 17:00 HEMI Reception 18:50 Say something bad (UA) 🎸 Ukrainian band Say something bad (Скажи щось погане) is a minimalist duo of two Zoomers: bassist-vocalist Artur and drummer Margo. This band stands out on the new Ukrainian scene, first finding their audience on TikTok, then turning it into a loyal fanbase. Business professionals you can meet: ✅ Yevhenii Skrypnyk – Founder of NGO ‘SHUM RAVE,’ who initiated rave parties in Sloviansk in 2019 to address the lack of nightlife. He brought Boiler Room to Ukraine, organized numerous cultural and educational activities, and developed the electronic music scene in the Donbas region. ✅ Maryna Mykhailova – Concert manager for artists like Lucas Bird, Seba Korecky, Alinikuss, and POBO, co-organizer of the city VERHUHA music events, known for their visual and curatorial appeal, and co-founder of Vertuha Records. ✅ Yurii Bazaka – Founder and CEO of the Ukrainian music agency Kontrabass Promo, co-founder of the charity fund Musicians Defend Ukraine, and concert manager for bands such as The Unsleeping, Kurs Valut, Pyrig Batig, and other indie artists. ✅ Alyona Dmukhovska – co-founder of Music Export Ukraine, independent initiative, which helps Ukrainian artists build international careers. She showcased local talents at professional events in more than 20 countries, spoke at major music conferences, lobbied for sector needs in Ukraine and Europe, did dozens of international projects, became an expert in European funding. And strangely, she still enjoys music! ✅ Tanya Stadnyk – Operations Director at Music Export Ukraine. From 2020 to 2023, Tanya served as a Project Manager at MEU, where she developed and launched projects like the Eastern European Music Academy (EEMA), a 12-week music business capacity-building program for young professionals from Eastern and Central Europe and the Baltic States. ✅ Ira Lobanok – Music Program Manager at the Ukrainian Institute (a government institution), co-founder of the Ukrainian music community Porichka, sound producer, and artist. In 2022-2023, Iryna organized a DIY tour in Europe, covering 18 countries and 50 cities with her electronic duo Krapka;KOMA to spread awareness about Ukraine. See you! 20th Sept 2024 Thomas Reed Irish Bar and Club

☝️Next week we will all meet at Reeperbahn Festival for networking and some great music. Ukrainian delegation will be part of CEEntral Party - HEMI Reception, so save the date, Sept 20th! Our artist ⭐️ Say Something Bad (Скажи щось погане) ⭐️ will play along with European colleagues on that Friday evening. 🎤 🎧 Getting ready for the event, we talked to the band's frontman Artur to learn more about their story! ❓ What does the band look like now, and how do you plan to develop in the future? The situation has become a bit more complicated now, as Margo plays in several popular projects and doesn’t always have enough time for our band. So, we have a second drummer, and they alternate between performances. As for future plans, I’m working on a new album, and some of the songs have already received positive feedback. After we return from Germany, we plan to shoot a video for one of the songs from this album. ❓How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music? "Say Something Bad" isn’t just about sound; it’s about vibe. I’m 23, but I feel like a teenager: I dress like a teenager, I have tattoos like a teenager, and I think my music resonates with similar people. That kind of audience is the most loyal. "Say Something Bad" is the vibe of a broken heart, it’s about feelings. ❓Your lyrics are quite unique; how do you write them? I try to write as I feel. Everything is very straightforward and clear, and maybe that’s what resonates with listeners. ❓How do you communicate with your audience? How do you maintain that connection? I have a Telegram channel where anyone can write, ask questions, and I’ll respond. I also often meet listeners on the street. I don’t keep a distance; it’s important for me to stay connected and have mutual exchange with the audience. ❓Do you analyze feedback from your audience? Yes, I think it’s necessary. When I started making music, I didn’t know if it would be popular. But when the popularity did come, I realized I could do even more and better. If you look at Say Something Bad’s discography, you can see how the sound, production, and delivery have changed over time. I think it’s right to consider your audience’s tastes, no matter how much of a "true" artist you try to be. ❓What roles does the label currently play, and what do you handle yourself? PLAN label is more about the community than about commerce. They give me complete creative freedom and help with video, photo, and music distribution. We work under a contract, but I’m confident that even if I ever decide to leave the label, my connection with them as people will remain unchanged. ❓What are your current priorities? I’ve experimented a lot and have already found my sound. My latest release is the sound and style that I’ve been refining for a long time and have finally found. I’m currently writing a new release in this same vibe. ❓ Describe your music in three words. Sex, dirt, and vibe.

☝️ Last week, Music Export Ukraine was thrilled to welcome our foreign colleagues to Lviv as part of the Baltic Artists in Development 3.0 project. It was important for us to keep Ukraine connected to the global cultural scene, even during these challenging times. 🌍 We had an insightful lecture from Anton / Ship Her Son and Marichka Chichkova from the Lower hall at Lviv Regional Puppet Theatre, where they shared their experiences on resilience and crisis management strategies that we’re using in Ukraine today. We have visited Jam Factory Art Center together and talked about international cooperations. In the evening, together with managers' community 'Porichka' hosted a networking event at Lviv Art Center with the wider music community to ensure our international guests could connect, find new partnerships, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations with Ukrainian colleagues. 💫 Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this an unforgettable experience! Big up to our colleagues from Musikcentrum Syd (Sweden), UCE Agency (Estonia), and Tak Brzmi Miasto (Poland), who visited our beautiful country and helped to organize the second part of the meeting in Krakow, Poland. Let’s continue to support each other and build bridges through music! 🙌 📷: Anna Aloka 📷: Tanya Vilchynska
