Keep your smoke alarms in top shape by testing them using the Test button at least once a month. If they don't respond when tested, it's time to replace them ASAP—and same goes when they hit 10 years old. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3AcW21P #FirePreventionWeek #FPW2024

We think the best treat you can give yourself this fall is a safe and cozy home (but we're not ones to turn down candy and caramel apples, either). However, we're so not into the tricks that cold and wet winter weather can bring, such as clogged gutters, frozen pipes, HVAC issues, and power outages. Here's a sweet sample of the resources we have to offer: • Get Ready for Fall in 7 Easy Steps: https://bit.ly/4eAdzQM • How to Winterize Your Home (And When to Call an Expert): https://bit.ly/484NUx2 • Road Trip Safety Tips for the Whole Family: https://bit.ly/480ZqJY • 5 Tips to Help Keep Your Home Secure: https://bit.ly/47YWRYV • Homeowners Insurance Checklist: https://bit.ly/4835WzW Get the full-size candy bar in our website's Helpful Resources section: https://bit.ly/3BzqYKg #SafetyTips #Fall

It's Fire Prevention Week, and this year's theme is smoke alarm safety. Here are some tips from the NFPA on key areas to install smoke alarms throughout your home: • Inside every bedroom • Outside every sleeping area, such as your hallway • Close to your kitchen (but at least 10 feet from a cooking appliance) • On each level of your home, including the basement Learn more: https://bit.ly/3AcW21P #FirePreventionWeek #FPW2024

September is all about being ready to respond to an emergency, day or night. One easy way to be prepared at all hours is to keep a few basic items under your bed. If a disaster happens during the day, you'll immediately know where to grab them. And if it's night, you'll have quick and easy access (and avoid running around in the dark). Basic items to keep under your bed include sturdy shoes—maybe a pair of old hiking boots or sneakers—work gloves to protect you from broken glass, and a flashlight & light sticks. If you want some extra preparation tools, you can also include a hard hat, a copy of your out-of-area emergency contact's information secured in a plastic bag, a whistle, and a sheet of paper and a marker for making signs for help or writing on yourself, if needed.
