Did you know that MVSEF partners with MVPS to ensure the Foundation giving is impactful and meaningful? This year we are excited to announce the grant initiatives! Two new and Two continuing from past years. INITIATIVE #1: Outdoor Classrooms & Environmental Education (NEW) This initiative will provide students across the district with dynamic, interactive outdoor learning environments that elevate traditional learning experiences. Access to environmental learning is critical to meeting Minnesota education standards and to the development of a child’s mind. INITIATIVE #2: Books and resources for young children & families in the district (NEW) Young residents of the Mounds View School District will receive an age-appropriate book celebrating their birthday along with resources to help families engage in the district early – as a gift from the school district and its Foundation. Early access to books has been proven to be a cornerstone to educational success for children. The goal of this initiative is to engage resident families early, build community ties, and promote Early Childhood Education programs from birth through kindergarten. INITIATIVE #3: ACCESS TO MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (CONTINUING) This longstanding tradition between the Foundation and District increases access for all district students to rent district owned instruments, which is significantly more affordable than purchasing an instrument. The goal of this initiative is to remove barriers for students to participate in the school district’s outstanding musical programming. INITIATIVE #4: EQUITY PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP (CONTINUING) This ongoing initiative awards scholarships to graduating seniors, with the goal of removing barriers and opening doors of possibility for their future. MVSEF believes that all students need support as they begin their next chapter after high school and is honored to contribute in this way. Lastly, the only way we can give this grant is by community support. Every dollar matters. Your donations make this grant possible every year. We are excited to see this year's efforts come to fruition! # MVSEF

Each year, MVSEF awards two scholarships to graduating seniors. One scholarship was awarded to an Irondale High School recipient and one scholarship to a graduating senior of Mounds View High School. It's always a moving experience to see young people embark on their next adventure. Congratulations to this year's recipients and to the entire Class of 2024! #mvsef

This past week HQBCA hosted a couple hundred high school students from Mounds View Public Schools’ Irondale High School and Mounds View Senior High School. I’m a graduate from Mounds View High School (2011!) so it was a very full circle moment in my career. Kayla J. and Rebecca Gillette spoke to the students about community archives and the U of MN Mapping Prejudice project. I got to share some artifacts and photographs from our collections- the kids particularly liked learning about different types of photography.

Thanks to the Cafesjian Art Trust Museum for bringing the "Fooling the Eye" exhibit to the students of Island Lake Elementary in the Mounds View Public Schools. Students had the opportunity to learn about hypotheses around zebra stripes and create their own optical artworks. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gfHA5-eX

Partnering For Education 2024 was a success! A big shout out to Irondale orchestra students who performed at the beginning of the event, Mounds View School District staff who spoke and attended and Mounds View High School Alumna Stacy Fields Janicki for being our keynote speaker. There was lots of laughter and even a few tears. Thank you to the 150+ who attended and to the generous supporters who donated to the cause. The Foundation community is one of a kind and we are grateful.

  • Welcome, Amanda!

Experience in education, event planning and communications will serve Amanda Duffy well as she takes on her new position as Director of Foundation Operations with the Mounds View Schools Education Foundation. "I'm excited to join the MVSEF because helping students reach their goals runs in my blood,” explained Duffy.  “From being a high school teacher right out of college to helping students decide on a major or career path in college as a career counselor, supporting students is what fulfills me.” As director of foundation operations, Duffy will be responsible for managing the MVSEF’s operations, including two annual events: Partnering for Education (150-200 attendees) and Rock the School House (200-300 attendees). Duffy will also collaborate with MVSEF trustees to identify and recruit board prospects and administer the foundation’s annual giving campaign. “Amanda’s background in education and connection to the district will be great assets to the Foundation,” said Erik Rasmussen, President of the Board of Trustees. “Her industry experience will play a vital and strategic role in supporting all of our fundraising efforts.” Please join us in welcoming Amanda to the MVSEF family!
