Empowering women and families in Israel and the US since 1925

About us

NA'AMAT plays a pivotal role in helping Israel survive and thrive. We provide life-changing services that impact day-to-day struggles such as daycare, alternative high schools, and domestic shelters, and we participate in creating a vibrant social fabric by advocating for equality and human rights. We are the largest women’s organization in Israel, and we have almost a century of work in Israel under our belt, so there’s no better organization to be involved with to champion the status of women in the family, in the work force, and in society, and to join like-minded people across America engaging in Israel-centered identity, activism and fellowship. Vision: A vibrant, inclusive, egalitarian Israel where all citizens and families have access to the resources they need to thrive, regardless of background. Our Mission is to improve these lives through our critical network of women’s empowerment and rights centers, daycare centers, youth villages, high schools, scholarship funds, legal aid bureaus, domestic violence shelters and more. Our vision is to work toward a vibrant, inclusive, egalitarian Israel where all citizens and families have access to the resources they need to thrive, regardless of background.

We are holding the families of Majdal Shams in our hearts as they mourn the senseless deaths of so many children. May their families be honored and be granted peace.

Family and friends gather for the funeral service to mourn those murdered in the Majdal Shams massacre, where more than 10 children lost their lives when a Hezbollah rocket struck a soccer field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams, northern Israel. May their memories forever be a blessing. 🕯️Photo by David Cohen/Flash90

Please join NA’AMAT USA for an exclusive conversation with five Israeli hostage families: Ayala Yahlomi: Her brother Ohad was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz. Ohad's 13-year-old son was kidnapped alone and returned in the deal in November. Yuval Danzig: His 75-year-old father, a Holocaust educator, was kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 and is being held in Hamas captivity in Gaza. Moshe Leimberg: Five of his family members were kidnapped. His wife Gabriela, his daughter Mia, and his sister-in-law returned as part of the deal in November. His brother-in-law and his sister-in-law's partner were returned in a military operation. Micheal Levi: His brother Or was kidnapped from the Nova festival. Or's wife, Einav, was murdered, and they have a three-year-old son. Ayelet Samerano: Her son Yonatan was murdered while trying to escape from the Nova festival. His body was then kidnapped by a UNRWA worker. This is a Zoom event you do not want to miss. You can register for this program by signing up here: https://lnkd.in/eitfNEZc

Powerful words from Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations CEO William Daroff as he testified before the Knesset on US-Israel relations: "Let me conclude by noting that on October 7th, the heartbeats of Jews around the world were synchronized. We in the American Jewish community continue to stand by you, support you, and want to impress upon you that the people of Israel are not alone. Jews everywhere share in your pain and your resolve. As the challenges of antisemitism have metastasized over these last months, we in America thank you for standing with us as we face the challenges of the normalization of Jew-hatred. Our heartbeats are synchronized, and together, we will prevail and thrive, just as our people have for 3500 years."

These pictures from inside the safe rooms of our daycare center in Nahariyya show young children, just 0-4 years old, having snack time and nap time inside the bomb shelters with rocket and drone alerts blaring overhead. Our daycare centers are open, allowing working mothers to trust their children are safe in our care, but the trauma to the country cannot be ignored. This is why your support of the work we do to help women and children in Israel is so important. Today, we are rebuilding ten NA’AMAT daycare center playgrounds. Each playground provides a safe, supportive environment where play encourages healing, resilience, and emotional well-being. With your help, we can transform each center’s playground into a vibrant space where children can laugh, play, and heal. https://lnkd.in/eGu92ACP

We believe Israeli women. Hate-filled denials of the sexual violence targeting them on October 7th should not be platformed anywhere. We are grateful to NA'AMAT Israel President Hagit Pe'er for standing up for Israeli women. It is their voices that should be heard. NA'AMAT USA (formerly Pioneer Women) has supported Israeli women since 1925 and remains deeply dedicated to that mission today. https://lnkd.in/emr4fUDD

NA’AMAT USA has stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow Jewish organizations for 100 years to support our community in the US and Israel. As an organization dedicated to an egalitarian society, we recognize the danger of antisemitism to all Americans, as its rise signals a society's tolerance for hate and bias. Attempts to delegitimize the ADL or the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism are not only attacks on the Jewish community but also make all Americans vulnerable to the whims of hatred.

Erika Gold, a Holocaust survivor and congregant of Temple Israel Ner Tamid in Mayfield Heights, was honored with the NA'AMAT USA Golda Meir Award on May 7 at the temple. Gold, a Beachwood resident, is described affectionately as an “energizer bunny,” by Marci Curtis, executive director of NA’AMAT USA’s Cleveland Council, who opened the event with a moment of silence for the Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas. “(The award is given) to a woman of distinction, a woman who gives up her heart, time and commitment to the Cleveland Jewish community,” David Schafer, managing director of the Maltz Museum in Beachwood, said. “NA’AMAT, you sure got it right. I cannot think of a person who better exemplifies the meaning of this prestigious award."
